After state police believe she sexually molested a pupil, a former Trigg County High School teacher was arrested.
In January, Kentucky State Police Post 1 began investigating complaints against the instructor, Ashley M. Wells, 34. In 2016, Wells is accused of sexually abusing a 17-year-old Christian County pupil.
Wells was charged with first-degree sexual abuse by a grand jury on April 29, and she was detained on Wednesday. She was arrested and taken to the Christian County Jail.

If a male teacher abused a teenage girl, he gets 20 years.
GA Supreme Court ruled awhile back that since age of consent in GA is 16, an incident like this isn’t a crime. I imagine she’d lose her teaching license though.
When women get arrested they usually don’t have time to pack their make-up.

Per the Yearbook entry, she has been teaching in Trigg County for 12 years. Since this happened in Christian County, it was between 2005 and 2010.
She has been teaching for 17 years, so she must be about 40. Likely the age 34 is what she was in 2016 when the accusations were first made.
Plus 2016, when it happened, was 6 years ago. The stress of a court case, especially the one that drags, makes women uglier.

This was the only comprehensive research I could find, and it's 18-years old. This is stunning: such a huge problem and it's getting no academic research. This is probably due to an unspoken blackballing that'd happen to academics who shine light on this grotesque underbelly of education.

The recent groomer sensation has (finally) riled up people, and the trans and same-sex dimension has been the magnet. Fair enough, and while same-sex educator-student abuse at about 30% of instances is higher vs this group's composition in society, opposite sex educator-student abuse at 70%+ of all misconduct remains in the majority.
Favorably, homeschooling is on the ascent and it is starving the beast.
