Following protests sparked by the leak of a draft Supreme Court decision indicating the justices are poised to overturn the constitutional right to abortion, Justice Clarence Thomas said on Friday that the court cannot be 'bullied.'
The leak set off a political firestorm, with abortion-rights supporters staging rallies outside the courthouse and at locations around the United States, as well as an internal crisis at the nation's top judicial body where an investigation into the source of the unprecedented disclosure is underway.
Thomas, one of the most conservative justices on the nine-member court, made only a few passing references to the protests over the leaked draft opinion as he spoke at a judicial conference in Atlanta.
As a society, 'we are becoming addicted to wanting particular outcomes, not living with the outcomes we don't like,' Thomas said.
'We can't be an institution that can be bullied into giving you just the outcomes you want. The events from earlier this week are a symptom of that.'
Police have surrounded the court with tall black fencing following the protests, which have been peaceful.
The court confirmed the authenticity of the document but called it preliminary. The court is due to issue its ruling in the case by the end of June.

All federal judges and justices have Marshalls guarding them 24/7. I’ve known two personally. They also are automatically allowed to carry once becoming a federal judge. Most judges, federal and state, carry. Their security is probably as good as the President’s.

I can surely believe that Justice Thomas won't change his vote...but there are at least two judges whose mettle hasn't really been challenged.
We must now accept the possibility that this vote will be every bit as wrong as was Roe v Wade,Dredd Scott and others.

None of these guys should be telling anybody anything. Their leak raises the nation’s divisions which are already at white hot level.
He seems not to realize that SCOTUS already WAS bullied into not even considering a landmark decision which ushered the United States from a republic into an oligarchy: Berg vs. Obama.
Only the spoiled rotten woke aholes expect to get their way all the time. When they don’t they are predictable in their juvenile tantrum behavior. You can practically set your watch by how soon they will react.
This operation was planned. The signs were already made and they were already set to go to the courthouse to perform their pre-planned protests.

I was glued to the TV during his confirmation. Media was going after him for sexual harassment of Anita Hill. Then I found out every time he changed jobs, she went with him.

now, a decision is whispered to be approaching concerning a female-specific law, unconsritutionally forged by a previous batch of Supreme Court judges, and that law’s permanence.
