Paris Hilton explained why she opened up about her experience at Utah's Provo Canyon School, where she faced emotional and physical abuse as a teen, despite "never planning on telling that story."
The 41-year-old made an appearance on the Australian news program The Project where she talked about working with the Irwin family on a project involving the Australia Zoo. Aside from contributing her fame to a commercial about wildlife, however, Hilton shared her experience of becoming an advocate for children suffering abuse.
"I couldn't sleep at night knowing that this was still happening and I knew that I needed to use my voice," Hilton said of sharing her story in the This is Paris documentary. "I thought to myself, maybe God made me go through this and gave me this gift so one day I could be the one to save these children."
In the YouTube documentary, which was released in 2020, Hilton spoke of the abuse that she suffered in an effort to shine a light on what numerous teens endure at congregate care facilities. Although she admitted it was "so painful to talk about," she expressed validation in the incredible work that her story has led to.

They were pushing a bill today to regulate these schools.
She's a girl. She's a werida, not a werido.
Pinche puta werida.
What I can’t figure out, is why she was sent to one of those schools. What bad behaviors did she exhibit, in her parent’s view, to justify sending her away?
Paris Hilton was “abused” huh?
From what I saw of her back in the day, she was the one abusing men.
Yet another attention whore from Hollywood.
I remember when her younger, brother (Conrad Hilton) got jail time or a fine when he got belligerent with airline staff on an airplane. He called them, “peasants”. Sounds like a jerk like his great-grandfather who was married to Elizabeth Taylor, and she divorced him shorty after the wedding.
Paris is okay. Private schools in the 70s and 80s were the worst, whether they were for rich kids or not.
Damn right. This woman’s knees haven’t spent the night together since she hit puberty.
She was going out all hours of the night to parties in NY and her parents couldn’t control her. So they had some goons “kidnap” her in the middle of the night, there are such agencies out there that parents hire to come in and take kids to these facilities. They come in and pull the kid out of bed at 3 am and say “you can do this the easy way or the hard way”. Often the kids think they are really being kidnapped by strangers and are scared out of their minds.
These companies are called “transport agencies” and are located all across the US. They take kids to the airport and if a kid tells the TSA they are being kidnapped it only slows the process down but does not stop it. They keep the kid from running by putting a medical boot on him not shackles while in the airport.
I dont buy it.
Its very chic for certain people especially wimmin to wear a victim shroud today.
Weird this abuse stuff is coming up now with all the victim movements. I don’t know what’s real or not on the internet with these celebrities, anymore, after watching her documentary. If they’re not able to act in a movie, they’re acting in something else.
She was a wild child and the paparazzi followed her like crazy.
“ Its very chic for certain people especially women to wear a victim shroud today.”
Strangely so, it is. It’s also used to manipulate people’s emotions. I feel bad saying this, but I’ve warned my son to be careful about this while dating.
Your good works are blown to hell when you comercialize them.
Bizzarro world.
Well it official, we have reached Pear Paris Hilton!
Isn’t she one of those that became popular from online porn vids?
A screenwriter friend of mine said she was like typhoid Mary in Hollywood. She spread genital herpes far and wide to many of the “leading men” of the silver screen.
Doesn’t surprise me at all.
Heck, I am worried about these last 2 generations, with all of the shenanigans going on.
I feel sorry for her gag reflex...
The term is Weirdx
There is a camp program in the Brevard, NC and Pisgah National Forest area, called Trails Carolina where kids with all sorts of serious problems are sent for rehabilitation. They use a wilderness therapy program and are extremely successful. I have family members who work there and am very familiar with their program. Yes, they have “transporters” who basically take the child from their family home to the camp, but I know some of them and know how they are trained to be strong, but kind and caring. The kids are given very expensive, top-of-the-line camping gear and clothes and spend a year or more hiking and camping in the wilderness. They learn how to survive in the wilderness by using confidence, coping mechanisms, and communication skills. At no time are they really in danger, yet often they think they are. For a while they hate it, they try to run away, they are angry, and the trained counselors (with college degrees in Outdoor Experiential Education) are experts in “tough love”. I could see some of these kids ranting that they are victims and are being abused. But the truth is that is not true…… the program works and most of them become happy, healthy adults.
“I thought to myself, maybe God made me go through this and gave me this gift so one day I could be the one to save these children.”
Not a single comment gives accolades to this. Rather, there is avarice, gossip and reflexive condemnation. How does one appreciate grace while in this state of mind?
