There is an old Star Trek NG episode called “Arsenal of Democracy” that deals with this. It is one of the better episodes.
Actually, I bet those drones have a very short range.

US Media doesn’t discuss it - nor does our Government - but under covid, China has ALREADY become a bizarre marxist techno-dystopia and tyranny.
Literally every Chinese covid testing status is tracked. You must have “green” status on your cell-phone to enter any building in large cities. Your color-status can change at any time and woe to you if you are caught outside when it does. GPS tracks your location and local police can detect any “unauthorized” outsiders entering their jurisdiction.
The “covid zero” facade is merely a pretense for rollout of this dystopian system - and Xi Jinping’s political and social schemes to cement power for him and his cronies forever.
