I agree with Jordan Peterson, but its probably not a good choice for a battle to get involved in.
I am a Peterson fan and frequently reference him in conversation, but I agree - probably not a hill to die on. His message here is correct. Featuring this model on the SI cover is a concerted effort to force "tolerance," and, "diversity," regardless of whether or not one finds her attractive or not.
That said standards of beauty vary from person to person, culture to culture and age to age. It's why we currently have the gentle euphemism, "Rubenesque."
In past eras when things weren't as bountiful as we have them, robust women were viewed as more fertile and desireable.
Quite honestly, when I saw the Japanese model and theSI cover photo, my first thought was the Venus of Willendorf.
I have to disagree with you on this, PGR88.
The fact that so many of us, myself included, don’t call out this absurdity is the reason these people feel empowered to viciously go after a sane person who DOES call it out, and rightly so.
Dr. Jordan Peterson is a remarkable man. I have an enormous amount of respect for him. I stand behind him 100%.
We need more of US to be like HIM.
There should be a pause, 5 minutes, before the tweet gets published.. this was probably not a great tweet, even if I agree with him.
Healthy is appealing, sometmes even beautiful. Jordan is pointing out the obvious, that this woman is not healthy being that over weight. AND if she does not reduce her girth soon she will have sagging flesh when she is forced to reduce her girth for health reasons.
