Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford are joining the “Yellowstone” universe in the upcoming series “1932” for Paramount+.

“1932,” which is the show’s working title, is an origin story introducing a new generation of the Dutton family. It’s set to explore the early 20th century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the mountain West and the Duttons who call it home,” the streamer said in a release.

Details about their characters were not immediately available.

The show marks Ford’s first appearance on a scripted TV show since a cameo in a 1993 episode of ABC’s “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.” The star, who got his start with small roles in 1960s series like “The Virginian” and “Mod Squad,” has never had a regular TV series role.

Mirren, meanwhile, rose to the fame playing no-nonsense police detective Jane Tennant in the British drama series “Prime Suspect,” which ran for seven seasons beginning in 1991. The show earned her two Primetime Emmy Awards; she picked up two more for TV movies and miniseries such as “The Passion of Ayn Rand” and “Elizabeth I.”

“1932” is the latest in the “Yellowstone” franchise from Taylor Sheridan, which also includes “1883” and “Yellowstone.”

Sounds like a remake of Legends of the Fall.

Looks like Yellowstone is going to last forever, with prequels up the wazoo, and Yellowstone sequels to come.

This is a sequel, not a prequel.

I have been watching Heartland from the Hallmark channel. You can watch it for free on Tubi.

I really enjoy it. It was Yellowstone before Yellowstone.

But since I haven’t seen Yellowstone I can’t compare.

The horses are magnificent and well trained.

Taylor Sheridan is one of the most talented writers in the film industry today. He is responsible for Yellowstone of course. 1883. Lord of Kingstown. He wrote Wind River which I really liked. Just saw his name in the credits for Sicario as well. All quality stuff. I’m sure he is responsible for the screenplays of many other films I haven’t found yet.

They are not really similar. Yellowstone is big budget, gritty and violent. Even the women smoke, drink, fight and curse. Heartland is, well, Hallmark...

true. the prequel with Tim McGraw was pretty gritty

Heartland does show things like Tennessee Walkers being put through soring but it doesnt show people getting scalped

It’s kind of a mid-quel. It’s after 1883 and before Yellowstone.

This Sheridan guy is squeezing all the blood out of this (Yellow)stone.

The climax should be exciting when the Yellowstone Caldera finally goes.

The climax should be exciting when the Yellowstone Caldera finally goes.

When that caldera blows, a large portion of the U.S. will go with it, and large areas of the world will also be affected. Some say it could be the end of the world, with consequences as big as that when the asteroid destroyed killed off the dinosaurs some 70 million years ago.

As I said, it will be exciting! Freezing to death in the dark while starving and hoping your windmills and solar panels continue to work.

Yeah, but Yellowstone (prequels and sequels and current Yellowstone) is lasting about 150 years. ;)

Sheridan should have knocked it off after the original Yellowstone. All that other crap is just that. Crap. Timmy McGraw as a cowboy. ROTFL. “That’ll be the day.”

1883 is most stupid, moronic, idiotic, and infantile movie in history. Something written by a 13 year old girl who never left her home.
