As you probably know, the problem was that Oliver Cromwell’s successor was his weak son, Richard. Oliver Cromwell fought to get rid of a hereditary monarchy, and that’s what Cromwell’s followers tried to establish anyway.
The father made a major mistake in not establishing a better system to transfer power.
Sure, I’d like to be Lord of Glencoe. But I took a look at the website. It’s missing two things I’d require: Scottish citizenship and full exemption from all taxes.
Also, there was no mention of any serfs I could yell at. That would have been nice. But it’s not a requirement.

I’m not a UK citizen, so I don’t care. Not my circus; Not my monkeys. But Harry and Megan are a different story. He was never in line to assume the throne and she was a B rated actress at best. I don’t care them either and wish they would go back to the UK and take their woke circus with them.

because the final end of monarchy in france was the end of the second empire in 1870 (which is more than 50 years after Waterloo), it all ended with a whimper instead of with a dramatic rejection by the people. So there was no strong reason to clamp down on anyone who maintained some monarchist trappings, like the casual continuation of some titles. So you get people playing their games and if you possess a title you can raise your status or make a profit off of it, so why not do that?
