Hanks did a Celebrity Jeopardy skit on SNL where he wears a red hat and shyts on conservatives. Too bad for him.
He was good in Joe vs The Volcano, but like so many Hollywood baby-killers just can’t keep his yap shut.
I never took it that he was ridiculing ‘conservatives’ I took it that he was ridiculing southern ‘rednecks’ who are both poor and not well educated.
That group may be conservative, but they in no way represent the broad range of conservative people.
I think a second aspect of the bit was actually ridiculing blacks. Hanks character was portrayed as a ‘stupid country bumpkin’, but his responses hit home as being the natural thinking of the black contestants. He was supposed to be a racist redneck, thus an object of scorn. But ‘Doug’ was up to matching the Blacks. So what does that say about them.
Watch it again and think of Doug not as a conservative, but just a country boy from the rural south.
