Back in the old days, we Baby Boomers celebrated Father’s Day on this weekend. Younger people nowadays hate Father’s Day, so it’s no surprise that they’ve cast a shadow of hatred over it.
Father’s Day in the US is like a ‘moveable feast’, celebrated on the third Sunday in June. It’s not June 19 every year, any more than Thanksgiving falls on the same date every year.
‘Juneteenth’is going to move up a day every year, and won’t always be celebrated on a weekend or long weekend, or coincide with Father’s Day. (July 4 is the same. We don’t always get a long weekend for that, either.)
