I had three roosters, and let all our chickens free range. One day I was cracking and feeding them hickory nuts when suddenly I got nailed HARD in the back. It was a quick b-bam. Five minutes later we had only two roosters. I’m shocked this guy was even charged.
My daughter has Silkies and Bantams (Banties). One day she came marching through my back door with one of the young roosters under her arm. She said “he’s staying down here today or I’m going to wrench his head off”. I have a chain-link 10X10 kennel with a shade tarp on it inside my dog’s fenced yard, so she put him in there for the day while she tried to find somebody to give him to. I told her, “one day and then he goes”. It was a LONG day with him crowing non-stop and the dogs barking at him.
Lucky for him that she found somebody to take him and he was gone before dark.
I tried to tell her she couldn’t peacefully keep two roosters in the same pen with the hens so now she knows. I told her to turn him loose, but she was afraid something would eat him....but it was better if she had to “wrench” his head off. 🙄
I tried to tell her the same thing when she got the Billy goat and didn’t cut him before putting him in with the other goats. After he nearly butted her through the fence, twice, he was also gone the same day. The rooster and the goat found new homes the same week.
She’s hardheaded.
