The 2022 Toyota Prius Prime for the discriminating virtue signaler who does not want to run out of charge while signaling

I just noticed this marketing innovation by Toyota for the 2022 Prius Prime that overcomes EV charging and range anxiety issues. A transitional hybrid that gets 52 mpg that driver can switch to EV mode and back to hybrid. Toyota has a good feel for consumer psychology. They realize there is a limited market for EVs because of range anxiety and away from home charging issues. So, they have produced a hybrid that can switch back and forth between hybrid and EV drive. Basically, drive most of a long trip in hybrid mode and switch to EV mode locally where you can charge it at home while you sleep. They are ingenious masters of consumer market psychology and supplying the demand. Now, they can go out and buy Twitter (to be renamed Twitota) with the profits from stealing a little EV market share from Elon

“2022 Prius Prime offers the best of both worlds: impressive fuel economy and the flexibility of electric charging. Discover how much you can save with this plug-in hybrid’s ability to drive solely on electricity and seamlessly switch to hybrid mode when the charge runs out”

If the leftist idiots didn't have fits at the very thought of diesels, we'd have diesel-electric cars that could probably get better mileage than most Gasoline-powered cars. Diesel-electrics are old and proven technology, and have been used in trains for decades. Imagine, a diesel engine providing electricity to a vehicle while running in its optimal power and efficiency band. None of the loss from starting, stopping, and shifting gears. You could buffer it through a reasonably small battery pack.
