BMW (and others) are mussing a concept here. Seat heat is a pleasure. One could monetize PAIN just as easily.

Like sitting on a tack, or a sharp thing poking your butt. Pat the freight, and we’ll remove the tack in your butt

Only $10 a month.

People who let computers run things in their lives deserve what they get.

The option should just be bought outright and you own it.

The work has already been done to install it and that has been paid for. Charging for its use on top of that is the epitome of greed.

Since the company announced in 2020 that its cars’ operating system would allow for microtransactions on features like automatic high beams and adaptive cruise control, customers have decried the move as greedy and exploitative.

There is only one way for consumers to halt this sort of exploitation by a company; stop buying their products. This of course assumes a marketplace where competition offers an alternative at a lower price.

I was listening to another podcast, an engineer, talk about the “fantastic” luxury cars. They’re only made for the first buyer. The company doesn’t get any money from subsequent sales. The average BMW or Mercedes customer does not “buy” the car. They lease it. They get all the supposed advantages of fragile technology while that technology is still working. Then, after three years they turn the car in and get the next, latest and greatest thing in automotive science. Anyone who buys that car is buying a host of problems that are waiting to appear. It’s unlikely that there will be any restorations of today’s super cars. Making things like parking assist or lane holding work ten or twenty years from now will be impossible for the average auto enthusiast.

(Something very sinister going on.)

Track everything financially.

Track everyone.

Control everything financially

Control everyone financially

Control everyone

Eventually, halfway through the 7 year peace deal (when it comes):

Revelation 13:16-18
King James Version

16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

And precisely how will this service be turned on and off by BMW? WiFi? Cell phone data lines? Not sure I believe this one.

“Hello, this is BMW. Please fax a certified copy of your vaccination status so we can authorize the heating of your seat.

Would you like the wife and children to have their seats heated too? Only $18 per seat per month.

Be certain to fax us copies of their vaccination status cards as well.

Or we can just read it from the microchips.”

Ten years ago, such an idea would have been considered absurd. In today’s world, it’s totally possible.

We react with outrage, but the next generation will accept this a bit more and the next generation will totally accept this because this is how software and other tech works....if you want a feature turned on, you pay for it.

This is just the auto companies making the transition because they know they can.

Each car has its own cellular connection. This can be used to download software updates to configure the “options”.

This is where going to Made to Order might bite car manufacturers on the a$$.

If impulse buying something loaded on the lot isn’t possible, and haggling down from MSRP isn’t an option, buying a base trim makes a lot more economic sense.

Why pay through the nose for options that you might be charged additional money to use.

“or pay for “unlimited” access for $415.”

So, that’s what the option costs.

At some point in heating circuit, it becomes a simple heater coil. Send some juice into it, and you’ll heat the seat. A few things to watch out for:

1. Will you get arrested if the dealer sees the ‘tampering’?

2. Be sure to get the voltage right - probably 12V, but could be less.

3. Make sure it doesn’t get stuck on, possibly melting the seat and the part of women’s anatomy one often sees in rap videos. A timer-switch works well for that task.

And they already want you to put you va666 status on a card, on your phone, on a QR code on your phone and maybe an implantable microchip.

Maybe a permanent vaxx tattoo next?

Not a lot different than buying ONSTAR or other such devices on American cars & then pay a subscription for using it. Just another way to make the customer the loser. If you have children, you have to buy a special seat for each child you carry in the car & they have to be appropriate for size & weight of the child. Discriminatory is the best way to describe it. I lived through childhood without them completely & never once had an injury.

A great cottage industry opportunity for some bright entrepreneur...disengaging the remote control for the seat heater and turning control over to the car owner. And, of course, avoiding being in the hot seat for doing it.

I would love for them to try this in the states. There's already a small market for Teslas that have licenses for certain software features that are not transferable to the new (second) owner... and folks who are hacking the software to get around it. The same thing would happen on a much larger scale if BMW did it for amenities. Why on earth would anyone fall for this nonsense? They sold you the equipment but want you to pay for the on/off switch? Nice try.

Exactly! Same for Audi. These are all geared to 3 year leases and the quality is designed that way as well.
