Hardly. Democrats held virtually every office for 100 years or more. Even today, there have been only 2-3 Republican governors in the last 100 years. The current governor is a Democrat because the Republican governor before him actually tried to fix Kentucky's very broken pension plan which ticked off the teachers, but I expect he'll be gone next election.
For decades, you could watch the Presidential election results and get the winner at 7PM Eastern time when the poles in KY closed in the part of the state that is in the Central Time Zone. That held true until Obama.
When I was a kid, there was "no such thing" as a Republican. A politician could be liberal or conservative, but he had to call himself a Democrat if he wanted any chance of being elected. Of course, there were exceptions, but not many.
For a long time, I wondered why KY held its elections in May instead of November like other states. Finally, I realized that the winner of the Democrat primary, held in May, was virtually assured of winning in November. I'd say that Democrats running for Governor would spend 90% of their campaign money in the primary and only 10% in the general election.
are they RINO mitch mcconnell republicans or real ones?

The fine voters of that fine State need to retire the Turtle before he does them and us any more harm.
Kudos to Judicial Watch for forcing them to clean up their voter registrations.

Tom Fitton and Judicial Watch are relentless in their investigation and litigation to rein in the Democrat/Communists and the SPLC.
It was the same way in much of the South. I’m from Florida. My parents were at least as Conservative as I am if not even more. They registered as Democrats. If you didn’t register as a Democrat in Florida you effectively got no say over who was elected.
Then again, Southern Democrats used to be more Conservative than Northern Republicans. Those days are gone.
Maybe. But I doubt Lexington is Repugnant. And, my birth place (hence, my screen name) is definitely RAT.
Hardly qualifies as flipping. How do we know democrats are not registering as R to vote R?
I’m not getting it. I thought Kentucky was always a red state. She voted for Bush Jr Twice, John McCain in 2008, Romney in 2012 and Trump in 2016 and 2020.
Both their senators, Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul are Republicans. How did Kentucky need to flip? She’s been Republican for at least 2 decades.
But when you get to state and local races, the DemocRATS dominated. The legislature and governorship were dominated by the DemocRAT party.
Kentucky traditionally voted dem locally and statewide and then rep for national offices.
We have a Dem Governor, Adolf Andy Beashear, he won by 4000 votes with dominion voting machines.
Don’t forget James Comer; he is great too.
Mitch McConnell was the architect who started the whole train rolling. Though its continued acceleration is due to the arrival of other conductors over the years. But the suggestion he had “zero role” is just plainly ridiculous and absurd. Not liking someone doesn’t require refusing to acknowledge reality.
I don't believe we even have those in Kentucky. But regardless he won because of one too many "foot in mouth" moments from Bevin. It wouldn't have even been close if he knew how to not shoot his mouth off. Accusing teachers of causing child molestation due to protesting in Frankfort was what started running his re-election chances into the ditch...but the final nail in the coffin was announcing support for tolls in northern Kentucky on the eve of the election, flipping deep red counties to light red or even light blue...enough to make up the margin.
Kentucky was a battleground state up until 2000. Democrats had a stranglehold for an even longer period of time on local an state offices. McConnell has had a long term project to first flip the congressional delegation, then work on the state and local offices. Though he really doesn’t have the personal hold he used to have - but at one time, he was the only thing anyone seeking political power outside the Democrat machine could latch onto to avoid the wrath of the Democrats. It was that bad.
Your Buddy Mitch is the most hated Senator by GOP Conservative voters.
Are KY primaries over?
Maybe it’s just a case of RATs wanting to vote GOP in primaries to sabotage the election — vote for the most non-MAGA candidate. Operation Chaos.
What’s going on with the Bracken County Kentucky GOP? News reports that they posted some sort of antisemitic rant on their FB Page then deleted their page.
The Donor Class. Where they cannot get an open Democrat elected, they financially back a closet Democrat to run as a Republican.
We characterize RINOs as stupid or inept. They are neither. They are undercover Democrats placed there by the Donors.
