That’s logical. Close the malls instead of accepting what the problem is and addressing.
The malls have lost a lot of business. Many stores moved out of them because people became afraid to get stuck inside one for reasons just like this. The parking lots also became too dangerous. Many had grocery stores close by and those closed due to theft.
Walmart built some of those food only Walmart markets for Mooches food deserts. Many or most closed because the deliveries of food were stolen before it ever hit the shelves.
Areas of Indy that used to be so upscale and really popular have become run down as inner city expands outward.
Some areas have rebuilt what I call little shopping towns. Areas with individual stores rather than a closed mall.
It is not clear.
Simon properties management has a "no weapons" policy.
Individual property management can make exceptions if they wish.
Not clear if their was any signage.

A new timeline from Greenwood Police show it only took 15 seconds for the Greenwood mall shooting to come to an end.
Police reviewed surveillance video that showed the moments the suspect left the food court bathroom to the time Eli Dicken pulled out his gun, aimed and took out the threat.
Autopsy results also revealed the suspect was hit eight times from about 40 yards away. Police say Dicken fired 10 rounds.
