I also want to defund the police. I think the most important job the police do today is to make sure that citizens can’t fight crime. We could do it better than the cops. We could take out the trash. Defund the cops, let the citizens loose, and watch crime disappear.

Exactly right. You can’t have a police state without police.

Throughout most of history, governments left almost everyone pretty much alone — because governments could not track people, didn’t have databases, and didn’t have police. Being a peasant wasn’t a good thing, but you were pretty much left to your own devices.

Today, the government knows all, and if your social credit score dips, the police will come knocking.
