Red Flag laws are for singling out and unjustly emasculating law abiding statistically likely Trump voters.

That might well have been the true intention of them and would be my assessment as well.

In practice, about 85% of these orders are filed by police against "frequent flyers" who have obvious mental problems and a history of aggressive contacts with the police for "civil actions". About 15% of orders are requested by family members. Doesn't every family have a crazy uncle somewhere?

The success rate for LEO filings (order granted) is about 90+ percent. The success rate for family member filings is about 70 percent. About 30 percent of orders are modified or cancelled on appeals. Family member filings are the ones most commonly changed on appeals.

"Red Flag" orders are highly concentrated in major urban areas, and almost negligible in suburban or rural areas. The ratio is about 30 to 1. Most police departments, and most judges are unfamiliar with the procedures and rules for them.

The "rules of evidence" are shockingly lax for what amounts to a "pre-crime conviction". These laws were made for abuse. We have been extremely lucky that we have not seen more abuses than we have.

I have not yet seen widespread use of "Red Flag" laws for obvious political persecution. There have been a few cases which were very questionable. This bears careful watching.

The worst abuses that I have seen have been in divorce cases when one party files against the other. At best, it is legal harassment, at worst, it gets somebody fired and without income to defend against other legal proceedings.

And it is often women who are the targets of those orders.

In the warped mind of the perp, they were not innocent: they DISSED HIM! They told him to slow down. They must not be allowed to get away with that!

But maybe I’m paranoid, too.

Just because you're paranoid...doesn't mean they're not out to get ya.

This article is coming from WRAL..a mega-watt radio blowtorch, broadcasting from the Lib LaLaLand of Raleigh, NC.

I’m surprised they published this.

Guvner Cooper’s office has probably already called them.

All very well put. After Uvalde, only the slowest of the slow on the uptake will still believe that local, county, state LEOs will be there in any real or timely way to protect them when Bad News Incorporated comes to their neighborhood (uninvited).

“...widespread use...”

Arguably not necessary if the real goal is to dissuade large numbers of law-abiding individuals from exercising their 2A rights by becoming gun owners/carriers.

What would be the sense of an individual (such as the one I’ve described) going forward with such plans if someone with a personal animus, a political animus, or both, stands ready to misuse the apparatus of government to ruin that individual’s reputation and family relationships for sport and potentially get that individual’s firearms confiscated, all while enjoying total societal and legal immunity/impunity?

WRAL: "Police say a woman's actions may have prevented a mass casualty event following an altercation about a man speeding through a neighborhood."

allendale: Its becoming a good habit.

imardmd1: It is not a good thing to have to kill another human, war or otherwise.

It makes one different. But it is necessary, and the Lord wants everyone prepared for it (Luke 22:35-36), and able to put it into practice to prove the sanctity implicit in the preservation of a moral law-abiding human life.

It is in the area of public education, where the idea of forbidding corporal discipline in the classroom, that early acculturation of a child to accept personal accountability for one's deportment has utterly failed.

The pediatrician Benjamin Spock, M. D., an elitist theorist of liberal humanism, published literature advocating elimination of negative acts in physical and oral child-raising, thus deconstructed a Biblical approach that had prevailed.

Gaining wide public approbation, His guilt-soothing theories swept the post-war nation, were taught throughout the schools training teachers, implemented in homes and public schools, and multiplied in successive generations.

At this point, a parent desiring to apply Biblical discipline may be him/herself smacked sharply by governmental Child Protective Services when reported by observers, judicially deprived of custody of one's children upon their complaint of receiving negative oral admonition of their behavior, and even arrested and jailed on charges of child abuse for corporal discipline of any kind.

The influence of citizens, born before WWII, an electorate raised with high inhibitions to criminal activity, has largely been eradicated through age, death, and liberalist persuasion.

But as a result, we now have an irresponsible plurality of anti-Constitutional self-serving godless lawless citizens who are continually complaining abut their desires not being met by the government that Spock-like elitists now control.

But what is it that the Word of God has proclaimed for millennia of history and supported by organized Christ-imitators, but increasingly revoked for three generations of American government:

"For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity" (Psalm 125:3 AV>.

"In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding" (Prov. 10:13 AV).

"Hethe Spockian that spareth his rod hateth his son: but heBiblicist that loveth him chasteneth him betimes" (Prov. 13:24 AV; cf. Heb. 12:5,8,15).

"In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them" (Prov. 14:3 AV)

"Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell" (Prov. 23:13-14 AV).

"A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back" (Prov. 26:3 AV).

"The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame" (Prov. 29:15 AV).

Thus saith the counsel from the Book of Wisdom written by the wisest Hebrew of the tribe of Judah--Solomon--that ever came into the world save the Eternal King, Jesus of Nazareth.

But now we, whom we-all think far wiser, have taken the rod (in its time the AR-15) wisely placed by the Second Amendment of the Founder's Constitution, and placed that death-dealing rod in the hands of the undisciplined Spock-mode inhibition-free sinful child of Satan, Prozac, and Xanax, to use as he (she) pleases, rejecting accountability to the true original form of the Un-Free Declaration of Independence of the Self-Disciplined Wise American Responsible Citizen.

What now, my FRiend(s)? Eh? More Biden? More . . . Alinskyite "It takes aSpockian village to raise a child" Clinton?

What would be the sense of an individual...going forward with such plans [to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights]

None whatsoever, of course.

That is the entire point of almost all "Gun Control" regulations. The rationale of "Public Safety" is merely a sweetener to distract the public from the real goal - which is totally disarming ordinary citizens, so the rulers can order the peasants around without fear of resistance.

The strategy that works best is to set thousands of small traps and tricks that will classify ordinary citizens as criminals if they violate the "rules" for having weapons. Then it becomes perfectly acceptable to the public that these "icky gun people" are punished and excluded. Sensible, obedient people will avoid owning weapons because the risks of sanctions are too high.

The same idea can be extended to any weapon, including brass knuckles, knives, forks, sharp scissors or heavy spoons. And it has been done exactly so in various places and times.

This does not work with truly violent criminals, but it does not need to work with them. Criminals are de-facto allies of the rulers, as long as they confine their predations to acceptable targets. Generalized fear keeps a population obedient to orders from authorities. Up to certain limits anyway.

We have not reached the limits of obedience in this country. But there are limits. Nobody quite knows where they are just yet. Our rulers keep pushing for the boundaries.

Places like Sri Lanka are providing us with worked and current examples of what happens when the limits are exceeded.
