Now even the Italians are getting hot and bothered about climate change! Eco-zealots glue their hands to Botticelli's masterpiece Primavera at Florence art gallery in bonkers stunt inspired by British Just Stop Oil vandals

talian eco-zealots glue their hands to Botticelli's masterpiece Primavera at a Florence art gallery in the latest climate change stunt inspired by Just Stop Oil vandals.

Three environmental activists attached themselves to the glass cover of the iconic renaissance painting in the Sala Botticelli of the Uffizi Gallery in Italy at 10:30am on Friday.

The protest was carried out by an unnamed man and two women - from the climate activist group Ultima Generazione 'Last Generation' - who rolled out a banner in front of them that read: 'Last Generation No Gas No Coal'.

The activists, who had paid for tickets to get into the gallery, were removed from the gallery by police, according to Italian news agency Ansa.

Luckily, no damage was caused to the artwork due to the 'special protections in place'.

A statement from the gallery read: 'If there had not been the special protections decided for the main masterpieces of the museum a few years ago by the management, today we would have had an important damage to the work, as happened recently in other museums.'

However the group posted a statement to their website explaining they make sure they take 'great care' and research artwork to not cause damage.

They wrote: 'We have taken great care in order not to cause any damage to Botticelli's Primavera. Neither the frame nor the glass that protects the canvas was exposed to a risk.

I don't care much for Italian art but I do know this stuff is priceless and that these brats should be beaten.

These ecoterrorists should have their hands severed and gloed over their eyes, then leave them in the street with a donation cup on a string around their necks.

I saw the original in Florence in 2019. A beautiful representation of the art of that period.

Thankfully, it had protective glass over it.

Someday soon, one if these eco-loons will irreparably damage a priceless piece of art or an important religious icon and folks will kill them for it.

Leave them there.

No food. No water. No toilet. No medical aid. No cell phones. Not a single solitary thing.

Other than a steady stream of public ridicule.

Just cut off their hands and they will leave. Leave the hands there as modern art. I bet they will not do THAT again. Enough with the stupidity. How about WE react and say NO to their idiocy.

I saw it there when I was 12. We were stationed in Italy at the time. I liked Primavera, but loved The Birth of Venus. Botticelli is still one of my favorite artists. I like the faces.

As long as the enviroweenies don’t harm the art, I say leave ‘em there until they’re forced to abandon their nonsense due to thirst, hunger or the need to empty a bladder or bowels.

Botticelli's Birth of Venus is one of my favorite paintings. I have a framed print of it.

Had that a few nights ago. Needed salt.

I would disagree. If I traveled 3,000 miles to see a Botticelli, you better be out of the damn way.
I don’t care what your politics says.

Too bad the didn’t have their asses kicked while standing there glued to the glass.
I damn sure would have tried to do so...enough of this crap already...

Everything you eat in Florence needs salt - especially the bread!

Nah. I’d want to see them humiliated and have to disconnect from the painting, tail between their legs, to go pee or whatever. To give up their stupid “noble cause” for one of nature’s urges.

The little idiots have been arrested which is almost as good and while I hope they have to languish in jail for a while, I doubt that will be the case.
