Keep saying that. My point is it shouldn’t be a secular institution. Government fails at everything it does. Decades of pro-marriage secular policies and laws has lead exactly to what? More marriage or less marriage? More divorces or less? Don’t get me wrong. I’m a pro marriage type of guy, so much so I know that government isn’t the answer. I certainly don’t need government telling me or my business if I should recognize things that are antithetical to marriage like two fags’ blessed union by the State. You see, this is what happens when government is involved. It attacks our freedoms. It attacks religion. It attacks freedom of association. It compels behavior. The same was true before all this homo stuff. It just compelled behavior in a different type. That’s not right even if you agree with the behavior.
Compare that to government’s required role of protecting freedoms. Government should act against uncompelled behavior that threatens our freedom, e.g., real crimes. They don’t have the ability to even do that. Government is unfocused, large, expensive and failing. It’s time to eliminate as much government in our daily lives as possible so government can do things that really matter. And do them correctly.
