There were a few but nothing like we have now. Now it’s being taught in schools and colleges.
There were as many mentally ill people historically as there are now. They were managed differently. Locked in basements and attics. Killed either surreptitiously or lynched or in prisons. The state mental hospitals were considered a great and kind bonus for the mentally ill.
