Comparing Progressives with Conservatives is problematic - apples and oranges, so to speak - since the Progressives’ true agenda of destroy the Constitution, while Conservatives strive to protect it.
This means we will always by on defense - and defense is not as sexy - not as hip - not as glamorous.
So, I don’t think we should expect our MAGA politicians to be enacting exciting new agendas - their job is to block the Left’s agenda.
We DO need Republicans to actively dismantle the crap Democrats have enacted... But they don’t even try.
True enough. Dismantling and blocking the Marxists is important work and I didn’t mean to diminish the importance.
I was just saying that since Marxists are out to destroy the Constitution, and conservatives are the ones who want to stop that - that means Conservatives are naturally on the defensive. Everyone knows defense is just as important as offense - but for some reason young people don’t think it’s as glamorous. Young people are attracted “hope and change” more than “hold to traditional values”.
All the impassioned activists and social justice warriors who want to become journalists and political leaders and change the world seem to be Leftists. Conservatives want to live their private lives with their families and mind their business and be left alone - they don’t typically want to go into journalism or politics.
That’s why strong conservative political leaders are rare - because politics is not what strong conservatives naturally aspire too.
On a local level, I find this same thing in my small suburban town. There is a town council filled with busy body types who want to be in charge and mind other people’s business. That’s why they are attracted to being on town council. They enjoy making zoning rules and ordinances for everyone else to follow.
When I complain about their decisions, my wife says “If you don’t like it, maybe you should get involved - run for town council or even mayor.”
Well, as a conservative, that’s the very last thing in the world I want to do - be on town council minding other people’s business! That’s the dilemma we face - conservatives are by definition not activists.
So, if you’ll notice, the Congress critters on our side are not as good at being activists - and there’s a good reason ~ they are more conservative - activism is not in their nature.
