Sonia Loja’s note to husband revealed as chilling new details of Conn. triple murder-suicide emerge

The Connecticut mom who strangled her three children before hanging herself left a suicide note for her husband that read, “Sorry, Pedro, I take my kids with me,” his cousin told The Post on Friday.

Sonia Loja, 36, had long battled depression and had been crying for days over the shuttering of her illegal child-care business before Wednesday’s horrific murder-suicide in Danbury, said relative Digna Naulaguari, 47.

Loja’s devastated husband, Pedro Panjon, saw no signs of the coming violence and only realized that something might be amiss when he got home from work that day — and none of the kids ran out as usual to greet him, the kin said.

“I feel terrible,” an exhausted Panjon told The Post on Friday, briefly speaking through an interpreter outside the family’s Whaley Street home, where mourners had left a makeshift memorial of photos, candles and balloons.

“There was nothing wrong with how Sonia was acting” before the tragedy, he added.

But Panjon realized something was off as soon as he arrived at the front door that evening, his cousin said.

“When Pedro came home from work, the kids would always rush out to his car and yell, ‘Daddy! Yay! My daddy came back!,’ especially the girl, Joselyn,” Naulaguari said.

“They would help him bring his things in, like his lunchbox and everything. On Wednesday, he came home, and the door was locked, but the door was never locked. When the kids didn’t come out … that’s when his heart broke” because he sensed something must be seriously wrong, the relative said.

Panjon, who works as a landscaper and carpenter, rushed inside to the kitchen, put down his lunchbox and spotted the two-page suicide note, his cousin explained.

“The letter said, ‘Sorry Pedro, I take my kids with me,’ ” Naulaguari said.

Looks like the deep state in CT had a part in driving her this way. In the 1990s I had a horrid experience in CT with the DCF. Evil people collecting state paychecks.

This crew looks fresh off the boat. She was probably an inbred central American villager.

I blame Connecticut for shutting down her home-based business.

But, really, it sounds like she might have had more than just depression as a mental illness and thank goodness she didn’t take other children with her.

May God comfort this poor father.

“There was nothing wrong with how Sonia was acting”. Except for the depression and crying the last couple of days...There are always signs, people sometimes misinterpret them or choose not to deal with them (too hard to cope with it). Sad that she killed THIER children.

ILLEGAL business according to the article. Anyone? Bueller? In any case, leave the kids out of it.

Re: 5 - Your comments give FR an undeserved black eye.

Grow up and stop crapping on FR Your comment is ignorant, which is unfortunately not surprising.

There is a way to do a business and way not to. She was cheating the people who went about it the right way and got licensed and all the rest. Same with the parents that dropped their kids off there hiring illegals to save some money. Shame on them.

Hell of an outcome for enforcing laws against illegal day care. You have to wonder if there was a way around this other than taking away someone’s meager livelihood.

I don’t blame the state. Somebody anonymously reported her. The reporter may have recognized a depressed woman who had no business being around children.

“I blame Connecticut for shutting down her home-based business.”

It’s an unlicensed day care.

Connecticut residents who have the misfortune of being American citizens have to follow rules that illegals ignore.

Condoning soft lawbreaking is what helped turn California into the mess that it is.

I know of illegals here who do dentistry and ‘plastic surgery’ in their garage.

And when that stuff goes haywire the rest of us get to pay for the resulting disaster as illegals run to a hospital to get fixed up.

Anyway the rest of the country will learn the hard way the lessons that we in California have learned about coddling illegals.

Exactly.

The state correctly shut down her ILLEGAL business. You know, the laws EVERYONE else is required to follow. She murdered her own three children. What would people be writing if she harmed other people’s children in her care?

Apologies. My comment about Connecticut shutting down her home-based business being the impetus for her murderous rampage was tongue-in-cheek. We all know how Connecticut cares about the free market so it was just a flippant remark that I didn’t want taken seriously.

But ultimately, we don’t know if she was a caregiver for relatives or what was happening for her “business” to be shut down. That is the point. Do we even know if she was illegal? Just because the father doesn’t speak English doesn’t mean he is not here illegally (maybe he is!). The point is that WE CANNOT KNOW WHAT THE TRUTH IS ABOUT THIS ENTIRE TRAGEDY.

I don’t trust the media AT ALL to give truthful information.

As I said, I am thankful that she didn’t take the lives of more children. I am praying for the father for his loss. Devastating.

She told the Conn. officials on the first visit the children were relatives and they followed up that claim and still shut her down.

Whether she was legal or illegal, they shut her down because it was an illegal day care center i.e. she didn’t have the required permits.

They were smart to shut her down, she was obviously unbalanced and a ticking time bomb.
