‘Like an alien obelisk’: space debris found in Snowy Mountains [Australia] paddock believed to be from SpaceX mission
The Guardian ^

The SpaceX Dragon capsule was observed breaking apart above the area of Australia where the farmers found the debris. Its re-entry was seen and heard by people from Canberra to Bendigo, with many sharing it on social media.

‘At first it kind of looks like a burnt tree … and then you come up to it, it’s like this alien obelisk almost,’ says astrophysicist Brad Tucker of the space debris that he believes to be from a SpaceX mission.

SpaceX has not yet confirmed to Tucker that the debris belonged to SpaceX Dragon, and has not yet responded to a request from Guardian Australia.

The debris has been assessed by the Australian Space Agency (ASA).

A spokesperson from ASA told Guardian Australia their technical experts had “visited a remote part of the Snowy Mountains area of southern New South Wales, after the discovery of space debris”.

“The agency is actively working to support formal identification of the objects, and is engaging with our counterparts in the US, as well as other parts of the commonwealth and local authorities as appropriate,” the spokesperson said.

Tucker says space junk is intended to land in the ocean, and it’s a “super rare” occurrence for it to land in a populated area.

At first it kind of looks like a burnt tree … and then you come up to it...

Exodus 3:4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

it’s like this alien obelisk almost,’

5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

The Tuckerman. Heya mates!

The picture doesn’t look too populated to me, the GPS coordinate would help I think I’ll look around.

BTW does anyone remember or has ever seen the Australian serial television show called The Tuckerman?

Even SpaceX’s junk crashes upright! Like to see NG, Boeing or GD do that!

Lie to see other shots around it and how far in the ground it goes.
Maybe later.

“..Don’t touch it, Sir!.... Don’t get any closer than say...50 feet away. Did you touch any of the fibers? If you did, we’ll need to quarantine you and impound your car for a brief but thorough
examination....Not that there’s anything to be worried about, mind you. Just taking Universal Precautions.

I remember rockets landing like that in old sci-fi shows and always though it was ridiculous. Now here we are.

I’m not saying it’s photoshopped, but the trees in the background have a shadow to their right, so the sun is to the left.
The object appears to have no shadow..

“Is that the guy whose boomerangs didn’t come back?”

What do you call a boomerang that doesn’t come back?

A stick.

But to answer your question.. I really don’t remember that aspectnof the show.

I do remember that he drove all over in a old Land Rover pulling an overland type of military surplus trailer.

The show focused on his tucker and the adventurous outback areas he transited.

It was a cool show, I really enjoyed watching it.
