Right from the onset, I found Truth Social to be a refreshing experience from a social media standpoint. It's sort of like having a high tech version of Free Republic on your phone. The key is to follow the right people and curate your feed accordingly.
There is certainly a learning curve so I can understand why people who are not technically savvy can get bewildered and frustrated with it. I'm not sure there's a solution there. After 25 years of having my elderly mother on the internet, I still get constant panic calls from her because she got stuck and doesn't know what to do. Giving her a modern smart phone would be unthinkable! She'll never figure it out!
Nonsense. there are many other ways to verify for registration. Trump’s IT guys are just to tunnel visioned to see them. Like you.
I tried to register on truth social but it required a cell phone number to accept a text message for confirmation. Bad idea.

Yep, it’s a non starter for me. I wont do it.
But on the flip side of the coin, I get it. I believe I understand exactly why.
If I ever made a site or app again that allowed users to communicate, I would build in some robust authentication, not just to protect user accounts, but also to prevent people from creating lots of troll and bot accounts.
You and I tend to look at these platforms in terms of free speech, which is a VERY important issue, but on the other side of the issue are people who just use the platforms to troll people, harass people, and even scam or victimize people. When you have an open registration system, and you try to ban them, they just come right back again. If you ban IPs, they just get VPNs and proxies. You end up spending a lot of time and resources chasing trouble-makers.
I'm happy Truth Social uses it.
Banks always offer multiple choices. Always.
The pungent smell of Troll is in the air this morning.
Let's say that Truth Social decided to go with an email verification option.
Anybody can create a hundred personal email addresses for free and use them to create a hundred accounts on the same platform.
It's much more difficult (and much more expensive) to have one hundred unique cell phone numbers to create a hundred accounts on Truth Social to create mischief.
Truth Social needs to be more careful than the Big Tech/Deep State controlled platforms like Twitter and Facebook as they have many enemies out to destroy them and do whatever they can to prevent Truth Social from getting off the ground. As it poses a real threat to their monopoly on the masses.
So I don't blame Truth Social for taking extra steps to avoid millions of bot accounts flooding the network to cause trouble.
I suspect it’s how they keep out bots. Buy yeah... not too keen on handing out a phone number unless it’s a burner.
Then there's the trending box which is absolute bs.
That hasn't changed since 2000 mules came out yet I never see those #hashtags used in any "truths" and I never see any actual hot/trending topics in the trending box. #AZ or #Arizona of #Kari should have showed up yesterday but didn't.
Looks like they're finally getting close to having an Android app so maybe that will help.
Of course that might mean it's months away at the speed of truth. I don't see how it takes years to create an app, especially for the Mastadon software that truth is built on because there are already existing apps for connecting to the Mastadon platform.
Client apps for mobile devices, desktop computers, and web browsers interacting with the Mastodon API have been released for a range of operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.[11][33] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mastodon_(software)#Technology
So far, it's mostly a platform for Trump and his most diehard groupies and some who've been kicked off of twitter and decided to go with truth over gab.
For what it's worth, here's who I'm following. Maybe if we all share our following list, we can build our own lists up using each other's lists.
Keep in mind, some of the above accounts never post anything. Steve Inman posts interesting short videos. Bad guys getting taken out, America's Funniest Videos type videos etc. Touring Britney Griner's New Mansion.
burner
Have you tried telegram that site is very active ALL of your listed people are there, I find it easier to operate around the site than Twitter or Truth!! I LOVE telegram!!
Search the hashtag #Freeper or #FreeRepublic to see which of us are on there.
burner seems a necessary these days
ask a J6 protester
how is telegram on censorship?
are they in lock step with the LEFT?
I’m not clear on the motive for the trains, but agree, they disrupt the feed.
“Perhaps providing a cell # weeds out bots? Most real people have a cell# or two. Bots? Not so much.”
As a developer I fully understand their supposed justification for it. But here is how it works. It is very easy to make a website and account very secure without a phone number or multi-factor authentication. It has been done for years now if done right. Both are a scam to collect data.
First, ALL machine bot access can be blocked right out of the gate across the board with simple common bot tools. So these are no longer an issue. What is an issue are real people actually doing the labor to physically register and access.
Real people can acquire and use both disposable email addresses AND disposable phone numbers, so requiring a phone number for registration is still ineffective. Most websites now use physical device detection.
Device detection and confirmation of a user’s devices is very effective and does not require a phone number. The difference is, a phone number can connect to private information of real billing name, address, and track you in real time through your carrier.
So far domains and carriers are bound by law to not share any private information connected to just a device number, but they can with phone numbers. In fact they can sell them. So the phone number requirement is also an insecure data collection scam in it’s self.
Personally I never use anything that asks for a phone number or detects devices, Not even banking apps. There will always be that day when ANY system anywhere is hacked. I am not too lazy to go bank in person.
Is there a Free Republic group on Telegram? I like Telegram too. Might be good to have one
I haven’t noticed ANY censorship unless of course there is a profanity tirade by somebody!! I started following telegram because a few few freepers went there that were avid Twitter followers and left Twitter, went into the warroom chat during Bannon’s show and was hooked!! It is so EASY to operate around the site EVERYONE I like following is there except Trump of course, HOWEVER Trump Jr. is there!!
You’ll see nothing but Epoch Times article links. :)
“Wise, I absolutely agree. There is no reason why they should need a phone number.”
I still did it. I figure they were in a no win situation. Without a valid verification they can’t stop Bots. Think of what happened on Twitter where half of their users are bots. Elon knows they have been lying to SEC.
