A FBI agent is asked what he does for a living. He replies that he is the FBI agent in charge of the Washington, DC field office, but please do not tell his mother. She thinks he is a piano player in a Nevada whorehouse.

It is the “they don't care” part that is alarming. The FBI, DEA and Intelligence apparatus are not caring themselves into irrelevance. Other than the FBI lab which is suppose to be one of the best in the world, what does the FBI do that could not be rolled into other agencies or relegated to State and local police. When the FBI was formed local police departments were either untrained, inept or crooked. Okay so those things are still an issue, but not as much as the early 20th Century. DEA and ATF are easily moved as simple departments under Homeland Security, same with the murderous and unaccountable Capital Police. Intel is so bloated with various agencies it needs to be trimmed down and placed under very severe scrutiny when operating in the USA.

So called conspiracy nuts are starting to sound reasonable in their distrust for any and all Federal Law Enforcement Agencies. Time to dump the FBI, DEA and ATF and build new smaller less powerful departments that actually have to answer to the citizens not lord over them.

Trump’s biggest accomplishment was exposing how things really are, yes he had to learn some things the hard way. I suppose it really was going to be that way with any outsider, knowing how duplicitous everyone in DC is.

The FBI needs to be broken up and their functions distributed among other law enforcement groups.

Their time, functions and reputation are long past. CBP, ICE, DEA, Homeland Security, TSA, SEC, and others all could absorb FBI’s duties.
