The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Yesterday’s cryptogram buffaloed me. Nice one.
In Lord of the Rings Gildor said, “That Gandalf should be late, does not bode well. But it is said: Do not meddle in the affairs of Wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger. The choice is yours: to go or wait.”
So possibly our CG quote was a spoof on Tolkien’s words. I don’t know. I just thought it fit the irritation I have for our government right now.
I noticed that you figure out most of these in a matter of a minute or two and then occasionally you have one that stumps you.
I don’t know about you, but if I can’t figure out today’s cryptogram I stay in bed the whole day and don’t get up.
I couldn’t figure out today’s either. Bummer.
