Saskatchewan mass murder suspect apprehended, taken into custody
original to Free Republic | September 7, 2022 | Peter O'Donnell

As there had been a thread discussing the mass casualty knife attacks in Saskatchewan last Sunday, the latest news is that Myles Sanderson, the remaining suspect at large, has been taken into custody in a rural area north of Saskatoon and south of the crime scenes. His brother Damien, at one point identified as another suspect, had been found deceased yesterday.

Police reports indicate that a vehicle (evidently not the one previously being sought) had been stolen in the small town of Wakaw, SK, and shortly after that, the driver was arrested and identified as the suspect, Myles Sanderson.

I wonder if anyone will testify against him.

from Fox News:
Parole documents said he barged into his ex-girlfriend's home in July 2017 while she was with friends, punched a hole in the door of a bathroom while his two children were hiding in a bathtub and threw a cement block at a vehicle parked outside.

He got into a fight a few days later at a store, threatening to kill an employee and burn down his parent's home, documents said.

That November, he threatened an accomplice into robbing a fast-food restaurant by hitting him in the head with a firearm and stomping on his head. He then stood watch during the robbery.

In April 2018, he stabbed two men with a fork while drinking and beat someone unconscious.

Sanderson received statutory release from prison in the summer of last year. It was revoked after he failed to communicate with his parole supervisor, but the board decided only to reprimand him.

He had 59 convictions for violent offenses and was allowed to be out of prison. The "Noble Red Man at one with Gaia" is a liberal myth.

Just saw video footage of the arrest scene, stolen vehicle (apparently) in ditch, at least ten police cruisers and an overhead helicopter visible, arrest scene is four-lane highway with a wide grass median, traffic still passing on the other side of the highway, evidently stopped on the incident side. Looking at road map, would say that the suspect travelled west from scene of carjacking (or however he acquired vehicle) for about 20-30 miles, turned onto busier highway (SK 11) and was forced off the road there. The arrest was in the vicinity of Duck Lake north of Rostherne, all to the north of Saskatoon on the highway to Prince Albert, SK. These locations are all about 40-50 miles west of the crime scenes at James Smith First Nation and Weldon, SK.

It will be interesting to learn more details about whether or not the earlier Regina sightings are authentic, in which case the suspect or possibly both brothers had made an earlier trip of several hundred miles south to Regina then back to the vicinity of the crimes. On the face of it, that makes little sense although so far the crime spree itself makes no sense either.

Media reports indicate that many of the various victims deceased or injured (apart from one elderly white male in Weldon SK) were natives either related to the suspect(s) or known to them.

Why, I didn’t think it was possible to have mass murder without an “assault rifle!” I’m shocked! Shocked, I tell you!

It was a horrible thing to happen, but it does illustrate that someone determined to kill will find the means to do so.

Yes, for example, a deadly virus, faulty so-called vaccines, wars started for corporate gain, all sorts of methods besides assault rifles.

Meanwhile there’s a guy with a knife on the loose in Edmonton, Alberta.

I could add that however popular or unpopular the suspect may have been before Sunday, he is now apparently not very popular on the reserve so I wouldn’t think there would be any issues about testimony, from what we’re hearing, a number of people have some evidence to give, as some of the crime scenes include dead, injured, bystanders and late arrivals.

Sad really that in this small isolated location, which is no doubt plagued by a lot of social problems and poverty, the people have to deal with this, and I know, cause and effect, but even so, thinking that many innocent souls were taken or injured by this rampage, and to what purpose?

One of the main themes is that the justice system failed on a large scale here, the main suspect has (from news reports) about 60 prior arrests or incidents and even so, was judged to be safe for release from prison last year, and also, wanted for breach of probation back in May and never apprehended all summer. It is widely seen (in conservative circles at least) as a particularly bad failure of a justice system that has been corrupted by unworkable concepts with relation to native offenders (our version of the BLM debacle).

TBH, I cant help but wonder if the victims were involved in the perp’s history of child abuse.

He was supposed to go to the healing lodge after release. But he didn’t.

Law abiding Canadians can't legally own firearms...no 2nd Amendment. Next they'll have a two week waiting period to buy a butter knife...and a full background check.

“Good thing for the people of Canada Turdo banned assault knives.”

In many states it is a mosiac of differing knife laws.

Chances are they’re all different and it varies from City to City, County to county.

State Police websites have the information. Check it out, it’s pretty interesting what is considered unlawful to carry concealed, in regards to a knife even a folding knife, tacticle pens... the lists are all available.

You can, if you jump through some legal hoops and get a PAL (firearms licence) Not quite the same as having an amendment that guarantees the right, but there is a shooting community up here.

NEVER would I opt for a knife over a gun. But if you're living in Canada, that's what you're stuck with.

They can outlaw knives 'til the cows come home. But can they outlaw grinders and old leaf springs, the latter of which are just old car parts that seem to be lying around underfoot wherever you go nowadays. ;-)

You can make a pretty respectable knife with just those two common items. This guy does it in just five minutes! ;-)

Most recent reports now saying that Myles Sanderson inflicted injuries upon himself either during or just before the arrest which appeared to be at or near a roadblock. He has since died of those injuries (not clear if he was dead at time of apprehension or died en route to hospital).

Live by the sword ...

Could a moderator possibly change thread title to remove “taken into custody” and replace with “dies from self-inflicted wounds” ? Thanks.
