I wonder if the boy has any cuts on himself with all of that broken glass? The level of destruction seems a bit much if the family just wanted some new stuff and a remodel.
If I was the insurance guy I would be looking for any torn or destroyed personal items of the mom’s like her favorite purse, shoes, etc.
It seems odd that the boy, having his phone taken away, would destroy all of the other forms of entertainment in the home (TV’s, laptops, etc.)

No, she won't. If this is true and not a scam, her son will demand a new phone from her newfound wealth and if he doesn't get one he'll smash things up again.
