They did that back in the 70s. Which was in the running for worse recent decade until the 20s arrived.
Any how back then they had hamburger with soy mixed in to stretch it.
Eating plants makes you easier to control something they learned from Cults
Indeed proof it’s not a safe diet plan man kind didn’t make it this far without meat Vegans were the first to go.
Actually, “meat replacement” plant based foods have been around quite a while, I recall that some thirty years ago, or maybe more, a sort of “hamburger extender” was available, to be mixed with ground beef, to make a lower-cost substitute. These mix-in ingredients seem to have disappeared, though there a lot of things like plant-based “bacon” chips, and of course, tofu, a soybean curd that was supposed to be “cheese”.
Then there was supposed to be a sort of pink slime, grown from cultured beef muscle tissue, but NOBODY is seriously going to eat it in that form.
Soybean oil meal, high-lysine corn meal, and various parts of of wheat germ are also used for a “balanced” protein mix, but these ingredients do not actually provide the same balance as a naturally grown meat product, be it chicken, turkey, beef, pork, mutton or even “cheval”, horsemeat.
I would not choose to determine if “Soylent Green” was of equal food value.
Not happening at this farm, or in this neck of the beef & dairy cattle woods.
My new steer will be here in another month or so. ‘Chuck’ will be raised in a loving environment until the day he goes to ‘the spa.’ He will have the life that any Feed Lot Steer would envy. ;)
I’ve never even had so much as a Veggie Burger - but I DO like homemade Black Bean Burgers. :)
I ate a veggie burger one time. It was bland. Like a chewy rice cake......................

There is another option, though ...”
Yep, stopping them in Ukraine so at least there will be lots of countries free of that bunch.
>>> The people that are implementing these policies are not human.
They are not people either.
People who are deprived of meat protein for long periods of time become ............................................................cannibals..................
Otherwise possible effect of methane drowned out by that of water vapor.
But they are made of meat..................... 😉
It is important to realize that crops require better quality land than ranching does.
If grass grows on land, you can raise cattle on the land.
“They’ve managed to grow a nutrient rich protein called solein, which is made from a single microbe using carbon dioxide - from the air - and hydrogen that is split from water using electricity.”
Proteins all have nitrogen, but I suppose they get that from the air as well. Making them from inorganic sources must be rather energy intensive.
No doubt largely fossil fuel generated energy.
You know the thing that gets me over and over in all this energy and climate change BS, is why fusion energy has not become the norm or widespread yet.
The more food is processed, the less healthy it will be. Period.
Nuclear is icky. A deeper reason is that fusion energy won’t do the job of turning what’s left of the middle class into a bunch of frightened, shivering troglodytes, with lives that are solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short. The stuff of paradise.
