I can’t count the number of times I’ve flown into Ft Meyer airport. Many new housing projects were being planned and built on Estero and Ft Meyer. All gone, along with deposits and dreams. Damn shame.

Been about 40 years since I was in that area, spent a summer in Punta Gorda.
I had no idea that now 1 million people live in Charlotte and Lee counties. It was a tenth of that when I was there.

I only flew in once. When I went to the Avis rental counter, I thought they told me I would have to talk to G.M.
Now, why would I have to talk to G.M. to rent a car?
It turns out he was saying "Jim" (Jee-ihm). At that time I could not always make out the deep southern dialect, and didn't really expect it in Florida.
