PORTLAND, Ore. — The City of Portland will get more than a million dollars to improve downtown.
The federal grant is part of the American Rescue Plan.
The city says it will go toward building 32,000 square feet of street plazas.
PBOT says they plan to focus on Pride Plaza at Southwest 12th and Harvey Milk.
The funds will also create a green space to connect the cart blocks to O’Bryant Square Park.

Flushing all of our money down the toilet.
Nothing will improve Portland until they run all the druggies, bums, and antifa out of the city.
Adding insult to injury, they are spending OUR money on a homo “pride” park. How about spending it on a STRAIGHT PRIDE park. Oh, wait! City parks from the founding of the nation until 2000 were for ALL people and celebrated normal families, not perverts. Then things changed and we now have “pride” parks. Whatever that means. One thing is certain, though - it does NOT mean pride in the city.
Buy 12 thousand dollars worth of wood chippers and dump the homeless into those. Save money and solve the problem at the same time.
Enough to paint a few buildings OR....HIGHER A COMPETENT MAYOR/CITY COUNCIL.....
At least the view will be improved for this taking a sh*t on the streets.

This is the kind of grant from the Feds that made it so vitally important for the Democrats to corrupt the 2020 election. This is the payback for allowing/encouraging(funding) the 2020 Antifa/BLM riots. Those that sponsored such destruction were told that whatever happened that they would be reimbursed.
They have been. Oh, and if you think that the politiocs getting the $$ don’t skim — you must still vote Demo.
So, let your city turn into a rioting hell hole and the federal gubmit will send you money?
This is a perfect example why decent, rational people bitterly resent paying taxes.
Encourage Antifa and BLM to destroy your city and then get rewarded with federal grants. Once again, the U.S. tax payers are forced to pay for their own destruction.
To my perception, this is a subsidy to Portland mismanagement from the ‘deep pockets’ of national taxpayers.
Has anyone ever heard the old maxim on subsidizing bad behavior and how it ‘unexpectedly’ (sarc) reinforces that bad behavior to produce more of the same?

The administration in Portland and their governor deliberately and intentionally worked with criminal gangs to organize, implement and protect the “autonomous zone” in which laws didn’t apply. Now they expect to improve their downtown with money?
Naming a plaza “Pride” and a street “Harvey Milk” does not solve any problems.

my first thought as well .. given that it’s Portland, those new plazas will simply provide more outdoor urban camping spots for drug addicts and/or mentally ill ...
