"The federal government must secure our border," said Guadalupe Giner, who is running as an Independent. "They put this burden on El Paso County. And for whatever reason, the county has decided to open a processing center."

The El Paso County Commissioners Court approved a $6.8 million contract in September to open a new migrant support center near the airport. It will be similar to the city-operated Migrant Welcome Center, which currently helps up to 400 migrants a day coordinate travel to other cities, putting many on buses to New York City or Chicago.

All of this angst after years and years of disarray and chaos encouraged by Socialist Rep Veronica Escobar….and Beto O’Rourke. Why didn’t El Pasoans stand up to them when Trump was in office? Why didn’t El Pasoans stand up to Obama/Biden/Holder when they threw the gates open right before Trump was inaugurated so he would look incompetent.

Holy cow, Mark. I’d forgotten. Thank you. I know a few people who have forgotten as well. I’ll remind them.

DC is NOT going to shut the border down. Y’all are on your own. Shut it down yourselves.

I don’t disagree with you. It was orderly until Obama/Holder wanted to wreak havoc on newly elected Trump. Sometimes I think it wouldn’t be so bad if we shut the door on El Paso and handed the key to Mexico. Let them deal with the influx of migrants from Muslim countries. I think every Republican POTUS has tried to woo El Paso only to have the population thumb its nose. Enough. I don’t see it as giving up territory.

For those not familiar with county government in TX, the County Judge is not a court of law judge. Instead, the position is as the top administer over all county functions and budgets.

The county sheriff is not under the supervisory authority of the county judge. However, the county judge does allocate the sheriff’s operating budget from the county.

Yeah man ! “To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day/hardly spoke to folks around him, didn’t have too much to say/no cared to ask his business, no one dared to make a slip/ ‘the stranger there among them had a big iron on his hip’’.

FRiend I like your style.

Btw nobody ever covered a Marty Robbins tune like Bob Weir used to do.
