Berlin would scrap the Russian sanctions pile up and immediately order the start of forever-delayed NS2

Biden has that kind of juice? To order something not owned or controlled by the US to open up for business.

“ Whatever the modus operandi of Pipeline Terror, incompetence was part of the package.”

That seals it, it was Biden.

Russkies almost certainly already had divers and subs there and already have all the proof needed to establish the guilt of the perps, probably within 48 hrs of the attacks. I believe their foreign minister announced they “have the evidence” weeks ago.

That said, what precisely is to stop the russkies from steaming down there and making a show of it? It is their pipeline. It does lie in international waters. Blah blah about “exclusive economic zone” - that fish and minerals rights, not transit. What is Sweden gonna do? Torpedo a russian frigate? Not likely. And I don’t think Denmark has a canoe.

> Novak remarked the Russian Federation is “ready to supply gas through the second line of Nord Stream 2. This is possible if necessary”. ... So we know it’s possible. <

No we don’t. Everyone involved in this Ukraine mess is a liar. Everyone, on every topic.

Press TV? I swear, I’ve never seen such weird sources of information on free republic before. And normally in regard to things Russian or Ukrainian.

Russia working on oil and gas swap deals with Iran: Novak

🔹Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak says talks are going on with Iran on working out mechanisms to implement oil and gas swap deals as the two countries eye increased cooperation to counter foreign sanctions targeting their energy exports.

A very interesting article. As a fan of Scandinavian noir thrillers, I find his premise to be quite believable, as the drama plays out.

I hope the Germans are stocking up on their wooly longjohns.

Weather folks are predicting a very cold winter!

Whomever destroyed the pipeline has to have realized there would be an investigation, and severe repercussions for whomever is ultimately blamed for the destruction. So it seems likely to me that there would be some significant effort at misdirection (framing another party) when the sabotage was committed.

So expect me to be skeptical at any initial reports, no matter who they implicate. If initial on-site investigation immediately starts finding pieces of munitions casings with serial #s from "X" country, I'm going to be inclined to believe that makes X less likely, not more, to be the culprit.

In a similar vein, it's been suggested the damage could have been done using "pigs" within the pipeline itself. I doubt it based on the following logic: If the damage was done internally, the number of possible culprits is very small. Basically either Russia or someone would have had to seize control of the pipeline where they could insert the pig munitions. And Russia would already know if there had been an incident like that, assuming it would have involved overpowering any personnel.

If a 3rd party did it, Russia would already be screaming bloody murder about such an incident from 0-hour or before. And if Russia did it themselves, they have to know the gig would be up unless they could blame someone else, so they'd react in exactly the same way, claiming a substation had been seized by some other party, and doing so immediately not waiting. Since they have not made any such claim I'm fairly confident the investigation will find the pipelines were damaged by external munitions.

According to the author, Sweden and Denmark are blocking inspection of the pipeline by Nordstream's operators.

If so, what makes him think they would allow them to be repaired?

Neither pipeline will ever operate again as long as Putin is in power.

D*mn poor writing style. Author doesn’t clarify who the different “players” and “alliances” are. For example, who is the Empire? Which groups are aligned within each broader ideology?

This isn’t really a “nation vs nation” for many who are involved. Russia is opposed by many tens of millions because they have been indoctrinated to believe Russia=Putin=Trump=EVIL. Others see Capitalust energy companies =Trump =pipe lines = EVIL. Other hundreds of millions see Ukraine = Holy because Trump opposed corruption in Ukraine. Others in power see Ukraine = My Money in bribes and kickbacks
