I stopped drinking years ago. Did the taste of beer change? I never needed or wanted it to taste better. It was all ready perfect.

I can't imagine any brewing process tweak fixing Budweiser
What kind of college student were you? A rich one? A lot of us had to slum with the likes of:
MeisterBrau
Keystone
Schmidt's
Old Milwaukee
Rheingold
Red, White and Blue
Ballantine
Black Label
Milwaukee's Best
Blatz
There was also a level below those that were undrinkable even by broke college students (Blatz, Koch's)
Tuborg was cheap, but stood up very well. That and Rheingold were favorites for cheap beer. If I had a little extra money I might have picked up a six of Old Style if the Cubs were on. Another option was efficiency by getting something cheap but strong (Mickey's, Colt 45).

Brewing methods have changed:
These tall tanks can produce more beer for less money – they're easier to fill, empty and clean – but their widespread adoption also means excess pressure from the carbon dioxide produced during fermentation, and that affects flavor.

Went down quick and good.

Damn straight......I applied that very action with covid shots.......I’ve made my share of bad decisions in my life but I’ve never regretted that one for a second.

I meant to say Break beer, not Blatz. blatz was good for $1.25/6. Better than Red White and Blue.

I boiled beer in a big pot and finished in a plastic bucket and it tasted better than 90% of the beer you can buy in a store. If I can do it anyone can!

I don’t think that it was smoked, but the worst beer I ever tasted was an Israeli beer, called He Brew. Black as stout without the body, and bitter, bitter, bitter!

I did say *since* college. I did drink a fair amount the first few years, but by the time I could purchase it myself at 21 (whoops, did I say that?!), I found myself purchasing imported beer and ale. There was a place near college that sold individual bottles of imported beers and ales, at a time when domestic 6-packs were not allowed to be broken up and sold individually. About that time, the micro-brewery trend started (Samuel Adams in 1984).

Beer seems to be selling quite fine as is, so why waste that effort.
Now, if a real improvement is desired, improve the taste of those deep green vegetables that I can never stomach! That will get a sure nomination for either the Nobel Medical or Chemistry Awards and everyone will cheer!
