A few years ago I had the good fortune to meet a brain researcher from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. We were in the same party of a safari tour company at Kruger National Park in South Africa. You can't go out at night (too dangerous) so we all sat around the fire at night talking.Martin did most of the talking because the other three in our party were also in medicine and found him fascinating (as did I).
At one point he said "scientists know more about the surface of the moon than we do about the human brain".

“At one point he said “scientists know more about the surface of the moon than we do about the human brain”.”
That’s changing fast (actually know more about both) as in the brain study case fMRI and some other advanced dynamic imaging techniques are shedding light on brain function like the full moon.
