The key is t be completely in the present, not thinking about the past or the future .

Once you are in the present moment awareness can extend out and as time goes on it becomes an automatic process. You can become perky like a tiger carefullypadding along appreciating every aspect of its environment right out to the edges of its perception.

When one carries that awareness, then i t is highly unlikely that a Darwin Award event will occur.

nd besides, you will enjoy life a lot more.

Many disciplines teach this awareness. Mine is kyudo, meditative Japanese archery.

But there are many hunters who have this quality as well.

NOt being swept away by memories, expectation and emotions associated with that. The time for those things is when you are at home with your feet up.

The good news is that every human being has that capacity for pure awareness.

My understanding is that focusing the mind to be in the present instant is in itself a form of meditation. Must clear out all the clutter to do that.

Yes, but clearing it is gradual. It does not happen just because we want it to.( I wish,LOL)

15 top 30 minutes a day morning and evening works well.

About 50 years ago, a woman ran a stop sign and broadsided our car where I was a young passenger (only a few minor injuries all around, thank God).

To this day, every time someone pulls up to a stop sign on a cross street to my right, I still have a mini-heart attack.

Literally.

I knew a guy who piled a bunch of black powder on a paper plate and lit a match, and walked right up to it and dropped it on the pile.

He got burned in much the same fashion this guy did.

I think what made it even worse for this guy in the graphic you posted is that if it had been a flat surface, he would have still incurred burns, but probably not as bad. But that thing only allowed the flames to go in two directions above the plane, not ALL directions above the flame.

It could only go in two directions: up, and straight back at him.

I know I should laugh at the stupidity, but...fire is no joke. Except for BLM and Antifa turds who are trying to burn things up. Then if they immolate themselves, it is a win-win for everyone.

I know exactly what you mean. In my case, I get to work about two hours before I am expected to be, because I don’t want to go through that specific intersection on the commute when it is busy, because it is a terrible one.

I had to go through it a few weeks ago closer to that time, and it was nerve-wracking.

Funny, I was in an automobile accident nearly 50 years ago when we were rear-ended in stopped traffic on a highway outside Washington DC, and it was doing between 40-50 mph when it hit us as we were stopped. We were right over the crest of a hill, and he came over with no warning.

No seatbelts worn in those days.

To this day, I can still hear the loud “CRUMP”.

Those things do stick with you. In your case, I am sure even a little motion from the right side can bring that on.

I would not hit it.

However, prayers for her family, and may she rest in peace.

So true. I can’t even imagine what her family is going through. Prayers for all who loved her.

It was an interesting journey for me. I went from not taking PTSD as seriously as I should have, to having a completely visceral understanding of what.

It is the difference between having someone describe PTSD to you, or even someone experiences of PTSD to you, as opposed to feeling what it is for yourself and experiencing it as a visceral level.

So, when I said “Yeah, combat veterans of all wars come home, overcome those combat experiences they had, blah blah blah” and went on with life...” did not at all take into account the concept of “overcome those combat experiences” part. I tended to gloss those over because so many had done so successfully.

I ignorantly discarded what has to be one of the most difficult parts of the whole thing.

I currently don’t take PTSD as seriously as I should. I’ve never experienced it.

Thanks for a great reminder of the need for me to be more compassionate. I appreciate it.

Good luck on your journey.
