"My Generation" appeared on The Who's debut album of the same name. It was released as a single on 5th November 1965, reaching No. 2 in the UK charts and 74 in the US. "My Generation" was recently named the 11th greatest song by Rolling Stone magazine on their list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time"

Who would have thought back then they would still be singing “Hope I Die Before I Get Old”, when they are like 80 years old?
I have always thought the term, “Hope I die before, before I get old”, was metaphoric.
11th Greatest Of All Time ?
Only by the brain dead.
“11th Greatest Of All Time ?
Only by the brain dead.”
As much as I like the song and the band , I agree with you . It’s not even The Who’s greatest song IMO .
Pretty bad song.
Led zep was so much better
Bad ? No . 11th greatest ? No . No sense comparing apples and oranges .
Ok, I’d call the song terrible instead of bad then.
I’d call your taste in music bad not horrible . Hehe ...
There’s a song called Led zep?
Supposedly by a group called White Snake.🐸
I remember in the mid 60’s, the band I was in were playing in a cavalcade show with 10-15 musical acts of that period. My friend said “The WHO is playing that gig”. I asked “Who is the WHO?” and my friend said “They are an English group, and at the end of their set, they destroy all of their equipment on stage.” Not knowing, I said “Why would they destroy their instruments?” Guess you’d have to have been there.
At least My Generation wasn't plagiarized from some bluesman.
I get that musicians borrow. But those thieving magpies drove that truck to the bank.
Though Achilles Last Stand is a masterpiece.
There are great songs that never even made it onto Who albums.
I love the “Odds and Sods” album.
“Though Achilles Last Stand is a masterpiece”.
Think I’ll give that a listen now. ;)
Little story: In 1976 my band, “Rampage” was offered a slot at the Troubadour, where Elton John made his American debut. We got one full hour.
No sooner did we start playing our original stuff than Pete Townsend and John Entwhistle came in and sat right to the front/right of the stage. They stayed our entire set. When we finished, Townsend came up (quite drunk) and slapped me on the back, saying “Good show, wot?”

Great story, "My Generation" is not my favorite Who song, "Happy Jack" is. "I saw ya".
Yes ! I’d forgotten all about that record . I bought it back in the day and dug it .
Like Cobain’s “Rather be dead than cool...”
