One of Iran’s most prominent actors on Wednesday posted an image of herself on social media without the headscarf mandatory for women in the Islamic republic.
Taraneh Alidoosti’s apparent act of defiance comes as weeks of protests have rocked the country since the death of Mahsa Amini. The 22-year-old Kurdish Iranian woman died in mid-September after being arrested by the morality police in Tehran for allegedly flouting the country’s strict dress rules for women.
Alidoosti, one of the best-known actors remaining in Iran and who has publicly backed the protest movement, posted the image of herself with her head uncovered on her official Instagram account.

I know word “actress” has fallen out of favor, but in this case it would really clarify why the story was newsworthy. If tge “actor” were Yassir Arafat, what would be the big deal?

Iran has some beautiful women.
It’s the “somewhere else rule”. Any place away from home has women far more exotic and beautiful than at home. Really. It’s an established fact.
This is bravery..there is everything to loose, including one’s head. Our own actors and actresses can’t even move to Canada when they threaten to do so after an election loss. Jeez

Very lovely lady. It’s so sad that a beautiful woman appearing in public without a potato sack on her head is considered a “defiant” act.
Compare her to the insane feminist in the USA who insist on allowing transsexual men in girls showers.

That said, I think it's the dark, sultry look of Persian women.

I find Polish and Ukrainian (Eastern European) women gorgeous. Stoudt and strong willed. In Kyoto I thought all Japanese women were hot. That wore off though quickly.

They do indeed. We used to train Iranian Air Force pilots in Texas. Some of these student pilots, had their wives with them. Some exotic women, for sure.
