I had an officer at my place once taking a theft report.
I had taken to using a hangman noose hanging from a hook in my ceiling to hang my bass guitar from instead of using an guitar stand.

After taking my report the officer enlightened me to the specifics of the oregon law regarding the noose.
I retied the noose with less than 13 wraps before he left.
He might have been pulling my leg, but I never forgot the incident.
