WILBUR-BY-THE-SEA, Fla. – Seven beachside homes in Wilbur-by-the-Sea collapsed into the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday after Nicole struck Florida as a hurricane and ripped across the state, devouring a large chunk of the coastline along Central Florida beaches.
A house located at 4101 S. Atlantic Ave. fell into the ocean Thursday morning and six other homes -- or at least a part of them -- also tumbled into the sea. No injuries were reported.

Do not build house on Sand Dunes.......................... If you have the money, go to it. I would hope that their insurance is either not available or not subsidized

Wilbur by the sea was a good idea until it wasn’t. Hope at least these were vacation homes rather than home homes.

Buying a home built on fill dirt is a close second.

Do not build house on Sand Dunes...and then be surprised or otherwise not prepared that a hurricane eroded your foundation.

Near here is a subdivision that is built exactly on that.
There was a large sinkhole (we have lots of those in Florida), that for decades people dumped trash in like everything from trees and brush cuttings to washing machines and old cars.
It was maybe two football fields across both ways.
Some developer got ahold of it and started filling it in with fill dirt, rip-rap and whatever he could get cheap.
It now has about 30 new McMansions on it...............
