AKRON, Ohio — Bill Liming says he doesn't feel like he can remain silent any longer. His son, Ethan Liming, was a star athlete, an honor roll student and a rising senior. Summer vacation had just started when the 17-year-old was brutally beaten and killed. Now, months later, his father feels like he is being victimized by the justice system.
“I naively believed that once the people who murdered my son were caught that the justice system would simply handle things. We’ve said all along we were confident when the facts of the case were presented that Ethan would receive justice,” said Liming.
But the grieving father feels that hasn’t happened.
“The people who have the power to stand up for my son are not doing it, so it’s up to me as a father to speak for my son who cannot speak for himself,” said Liming.
Ethan and his three friends drove to the I Promise School parking lot in Akron. Liming said his son and another friend sat in the car while the two others got out. Police said that's when a water bead was fired from a toy gun; it came from a Splatrball Water Bead Blaster aimed at a group of young men playing basketball. It was part of a TikTok challenge, according to Liming.
Liming said Ethan’s friends ran back to the car; the group of men initially ran away as well.
“When they figured out that they were not being shot by a real gun, they decided to go and confront Ethan and all of his friends who were in the car,” said Liming.
According to court documents, Ethan stepped out of the car. He was confronted by the three, and he fired a Splatrball water bead

Justice is a fluid concept these days which depends more on who and what the victim and the perpetrator are than the crime committed. If the father had sufficient angst he would tool up find the youts who killed his son and light them up. He would doubtless get the maximum sentence not being an intersectional victim, but he would have the satisfaction of knowing that the youts would not be high fiving and bragging about their exploits.
I absolutely believe the father’s comment about one prosecutor saying it was “hood justice” and not wanting to press any charges against the thugs. When I lived in Cleveland, on one occasion, me and my friend (both highly skilled MMA) got into a confrontation with two rather large brothers. Two cops stood twenty feet away and clearly had o intention of getting involved. The only provocation was us making eye contact with them as they walked towards us and not move out of their way. I know the cops would have let the thugs beat us had things gone that way, but they didn’t— we beat the piss out of them and left one likely crippled for life, all over in just tens of seconds. The cops acted quickly once they saw we were putting these dogs down... and then of course they pulled US aside and started cursing us, saying “You know a white man cannot make eye contact with a black man in this city, you SOBs know what you were doing, you basically started this...” I asked him to show me the statute that said a white man can’t make eye contact with a black man... he couldn’t. I told him that I probably could find the ones that said making verbal threats followed by physical assault was in fact a crime, and that I wanted the thugs locked up. The cops refused to arrest them, and let them go, and told us to stop starting trouble. I could tell many more stories like this... basically even then, if you were white you were expected to take a beating and if you defended yourself don’t be surprised if you were the one who got locked up.
It’s the same BS all over the place.
You don’t tug on Superman’s cape. You don’t spit into the wind. You don’t pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger and you don’t shoot at negroes you don’t know who are playing basketball with a splat gun. This kid must have been mentally challenged.

The JustUs system is more concerned with protecting criminals than in meeting out justice for the victims.
Criminals are cash cows for all those that work at the courthouse the more crimes they get caught for the more they earn for the courthouse. Appeals are especially lucrative.
The accused went through the grand jury and on Oct. 22 was turned over for trial. Death penalty is on the table.
