The report from ‘i’, a British newspaper, claims Murdoch has responded to the midterm disaster befalling the GOP by telling Trump the failure of his candidates to carry a red wave to fruition has “put an end” to the former President’s political career.
“There have been conversations between them during which Rupert made it clear to Donald that we cannot back another run for the White House,” one News Corporation source allegedly said.
They also suggest that Murdoch’s son, Lachlan, chief executive of Fox News’ parent company Fox Corporation, has indicated the media outlet would get behind Florida Governor Ron DeSantis instead.
The shocking report also advises that should 2024 come down to a rematch between President Biden and Trump, the organization would remain neutral, but if the Democrats go a different route, the Murdoch family would be “open to backing another Democrat candidate.”
The New York Post and Wall Street Journal, two other media outlets owned by Rupert Murdoch, appear to be pushing the ‘get off the Trump train’ narrative following the midterms.
The Journal alone ran six separate op-eds critical of the former President, with one titled “Trump Is the Republican Party’s Biggest Loser.
”The editorial board notes that Trump has suffered electoral setbacks in nearly every election cycle since his surprise victory in 2016.
The Post, meanwhile, has run two covers of late with one mocking the Republican leader as “Trumpty Dumpty” and another suggesting DeSantis is “DeFuture” of the GOP.
Rupert Murdoch appears to have gone full Never-Trumper, according to this report. I get throwing his weight behind Ron DeSantis as a viable alternative, but can he honestly name one Democrat who would be a superior President in 2024?

Maybe Murdoch did some effective hammering of Trump’s ego.

My hope is that DeSantis congratulates Trump after he announces and says that he will back him. In the mean time, he can be waiting in the wings if needed. Otherwise, he will fall into the Deep State Uniparty trap that they are setting for him.
Fox has been attacking Trump mercilessly for a couple of weeks now on virtually every news show, and muffling hosts such as Hannity, Carlson, Watters, Ingraham, etc. from coming to Trump’s defense.
Everything is being blamed on Trump who worked his tail off trying to help candidates all over the country with rallies and endorsements and has had about a 93% success rate with his endorsements.
Trump wasn’t on the ballot even, and the fault for the poor showing of many of our candidates lies with the corrupt mail-in voting procedures used by the Dems, such as ballot harvesting (in particular in old folks homes and on college campuses), ballot drop boxes, and corrupt vote counting and slow walking of results by Dem state officials in key Dem controlled large states, along with harvesting early votes to stockpile them upfront.
The final coup de grace was incompetent Pub leadership, in particular that archaic fossil Mitch McConnell (alias the Turtle) in the Senate (a total Establishment/RINO, anti-Trumper tool) and the glib all talk no action or guts Kevin McCarthy, who doesn’t even want investigations/impeachment efforts to be carried out in the House against the corrupt Dems such as Biden & Son, and Alejandro Mayorkis Secretary of DHS who is as big a traitor as are the Bidens. They should all be in jail.
Pubs on the other hand waited until the last minute to vote (big mistake that I squawked about on FR), didn’t harvest votes, don’t get out early voters, aren’t corrupt like Dems with voting procedures, don’t use drop boxes, and don’t slow walk results (example: Pub Gov Ron DeSantis led Florida quick results). In other words, we aren’t crooked.
If Pubs don’t learn how to fight as dirty and below the belt as Dems do, we will not win many elections enough to make a difference in the future. Time to fight fire with fire or we will be doomed to minority status ad nauseum. We need a fighter and a double downer, just like the Dems always are (in other words Trump). No more Mister Nice Guy which translates into loser.
So much looking forward to Trump’s announcement of his intent to run for Prez again tonight (at 9 pm eastern time for those that don’t know). Will definitely be carried on Newsmax; probably on most cable stations, even Fox, as they can’t resist the ratings boost they will all get (even the enemies such as MSNBC, CNN, and now FOX), by broadcasting anything that has to do with Trump.
To echo The Donald, I always knew Murdoch was a phony.
