Warm in their seats, they were loath to leave them, or hold them any longer at the will of the people - John Adams
1787 | John Adams

Posted on 11/17/2022 6:34:07 AM PST by cotton1706

"Warm in their seats, they were loath to leave them, or hold them any longer at the will of the people. With all the subtlety, and all the sagacity and address which is characteristic of this order of men in every age and nation, they prevailed on the people to relinquish for the future the right of electing counsellors in the general assembly, and the people, with their characteristic simplicity, and unbounded confidence in their rulers when they love them; became the dupes, and passed a law, that the two councils should for the future elect, or at least approve and affirm, each other." - John Adams, A Defence of the Constitutions of the United States of America, Volume I

The above quote from 1787 goes to show that what we are witnessing is nothing new. The people are not to be allowed to choose or replace those in power. The means by which THE PEOPLE affect and change and check the government has been removed - by design.

This is no conspiracy theory. Just look again to the above quote and realize that this is how men in power operate and have always operated. They will preserve their power AT ALL COST. As an example, we see that the US Senate is choosing its own membership by endorsing prospective members and causing the defeat of prospective members, the people's choices be damned.

John Adams was writing 235 years ago about governments that existed a thousand or even two thousand years before HIM. What we are witnessing is nothing new.

What Adams probably could not imagine in his time is that a member of Congress would happily allow the opposition party change the rules of election to facilitate that party’s stealing of elections in perpetuity.

At this point, I don’t even believe Red states will be able to hang on much more than a generation. The GOP failed to reform K-12, perhaps the biggest mistake in history as people no longer believe in America, they want a socialist state.

Side effects: the Constitution was ratified by the states to prevent imminent civil war under the Articles of Confederation. Even during the Revolution, Congress had to intervene in a shooting war between Pennsylvania and Connecticut regiments over a land dispute over eastern Pennsylvania. When the Constitution was ratified, New York was about to invade New Jersey. The contract between the states is becoming a dead letter. Back to the old ways, I guess.

They foresaw a lot, but apparently not everything. Thus, this "experiment" will cease to exist because we only have a one party system wo there is no one who will correct course.

In fact, shortly after Iowa became a state, Missouri and Iowa nearly had a shooting war over a border dispute. The Missouri and Iowa militia were called up. The Missouri militia had to rob a general store for supplies to deploy. The only thing that prevented war between the states, was the commander of the Missouri militia decided that he would not shed blood over an issue that should be decided in Congress, not on the battlefield.

We are at a tipping point because of the massive election fraud, we can’t easily vote our way out of this mess.

Something must be done.

The problem with the country when it started out, was that the old colonial charters drew borders that were incredibly ambiguous and conflicted. Throw in the fact that many colonies were “cross-pollinated” by people from other colonies. Long Island was colonized by people from Connecticut. You can still find old New England congregationalist churches on the east coast of some deep southern states. This was the genesis of the land war between PA and Connecticut during the Revolution. Everyone thought they had a claim on the land of everyone else.

“John Adams was writing 235 years ago about governments that existed a thousand or even two thousand years before HIM. What we are witnessing is nothing new.”

And most of those corrupt governments eventually were done away with revolutions.

There’s a limit to what people will put up with... We may be approaching that.

Yes, knew about the (surprising) conflicting claims of Pennsylvania and Connecticutians, based on terms of royal grants IIRC. Also learned about how pre-statehood Vermonters fended off surveyors and land claimants from both NY and NH, eventually becoming the 14th state after those pesky NYers and NHer got tired of getting violently jumped and shot at.

Could ANY of us ever imagine that would be the case? Especially under the fraudulent guise of a “public health emergency”?
