Yes. I often point to the tobacco topic. I don’t think it’s about the smoking (plenty of people really hate smoking) but it’s about the control. Without making something illegal, the government learned that it could control people and private businesses pretty much on a whim. The non-smoking section came first. Then the smokers were relegated to a designated smoking section. Then smoking was banned from inside entirely. Then smoking was banned around the exterior door. Bit by bit the control is extended. It’s been all downhill since then.

Smoking, the government telling people when and where they can smoke tobacco.. That's when it all began... I'm going to go with seatbelts and/or motorcycle helmets.
If smoking impacts another's health, then that's enough to open the door for the government to act.

Every admired and respected organization in this country seems anxious to eliminate the high standards of admission and behavior that made them great, in order to avoid accusations of racism, sexism and homophobia. In the process they have destroyed their reputations.

Like the CRT (Cranky Racist Theory) says, you can’t be an official racist unless you have powah. She is now officially a powahful RACIST. She’s been drinkin’ that Boston “Dirty Water”.

Higher education in America has morphed into something surrealistic. A nightmare from which one cannot awaken.
Harvard has long been a joke. Now it's just a tragedy.

Oh, and did I mention Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein? They have their own Harvard-related scandals, and Claudine Gay is in the middle of both of them as well. Brunet treats both in this April 2022 post. Epstein, you may recall, was a large donor to Harvard, and in return got himself an office and a telephone at the university. That occurred on the watch of Gay’s predecessor as Dean of FAS, one Michael Smith. Gay’s role was to whitewash the whole thing. Brunet comments: Claudine Gay allowed Michael Smith to get away scot-free in the Harvard-Epstein ties investigation — she came in and nicely whitewashed it all away. Claudine Gay has Epstein coverup stink on her, and Michael Smith has major Epstein stink on him.Can we assume Claudine Gay supports illegals dropping 5 year old girls over the Wall?(in the name of diversity?)

Tell you what, the thing that holds most black Americans back is the pressure from within that community to stick with the script. Step off the plantation, and they come after you with bone saws. Yep. When my daughter was in elementary school (1980s) she and a black kid named Michael were the best students in her classes. When they got to junior high, Michael's grades went to hell in a handbasket. My daughter asked him about it, and he said making good grades makes him look too white in his black community. He decided that he'd rather be a part of his in-crowd.

If smoking impacts another's health, then that's enough to open the door for the government to act.
Restaurants, beer joints and other such establishments are private businesses, and that door works as an exit as well as an entrance.. If one finds themselve in a dangerous environment, they have every right leave. Or stay, whatever..
The freedom of association — unlike the rights of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition — is a right not listed in the First Amendment but recognized by the courts as a fundamental right.
But, the real loss was not where you can smoke, but was the infringement of the feds on private property... I feel It was an egregious overreach.. But, you know what they say about opinions.... :)
