America is Blessed Thread
Vanity ^ | December 19, 2022 | ConservativeInPA

There’s been a lot of negative news lately. When that happens I remind myself of the inherent blessings and potential America has. America is truly unique in the world. The idea of this thread is to add one or more items that contribute to America’s greatness and can be further leveraged in the future. I’ll begin below with one that is often overlooked.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: american; greatness; jimwn
Old Man River. The Mississippi is the second longest river in North America. Its tributary, the Missouri River is the longest by about 100 miles. But more importantly the Mississippi is navigable from Minneapolis-St. Paul to the Gulf of Mexico. That’s nearly the entire north-south distance of the lower forty-eight. It’s major tributaries are also navigable.

It is one of the most efficient and inexpensive methods to move goods. The Mississippi was not built by man and but requires upkeep and improvements that are minuscule in cost compared to other modes of transportation. We get the Mississippi and its tributaries nearly for free.

The Mississippi connects to waterways that include the Illinois Waterway, the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. The Gulf Intracoastal Waterway alone provides 1,050 miles of protected inland transportation from Carrabelle, FL to Brownsville, TX.

No other nation has such an advantage. Most notable are the things the Mississippi and its tributaries connect. The breadbasket of the world is directly at its and the Missouri River’s banks. Factories and mills are fed raw to materials all the way to Pittsburgh, PA via the Ohio River.

Agricultural products grown in the Mississippi basin represent 92% of the nation's agricultural exports, 78% of the world's exports in feed grains and soybeans, and most of the livestock and hogs produced nationally. Sixty percent of all grain exported from the US is shipped on the Mississippi River through the Port of New Orleans and the Port of South Louisiana.

In measure of tonnage, the largest port district in the world is located along the Mississippi River delta in Louisiana. The Port of South Louisiana is one of the largest volume ports in the United States. Representing 500 million tons of shipped goods per year (according to the Port of New Orleans), the Mississippi River barge port system is significant to national trade.

Shipping at the lower end of the Mississippi is focused on petroleum and petroleum products, iron and steel, grain, rubber, paper, wood, coffee, coal, chemicals, and edible oils.

To move goods up and down the Mississippi, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintains a 9-foot shipping channel from Baton Rouge, LA to Minneapolis, MN. From Baton Rouge past New Orleans to Head of Passes, a 45 foot channel is maintained to allow ocean-going vessels access to ports between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

The Mississippi and its tributaries give America a distinct advantage over the every country of the world. When combined and fully leveraged with other America’s blessings, America will be great again.

God loves America. God miraculously birthed America in 1776 and I think will miraculous restore her and her Free Constitutional Republic.

The Rocky Mountains and the Sierra Nevada’s provide lots of snow which turns into water, some of which is stored in dams... and some left to flow into the ocean for the sake of the little fishies.

The US has coastlines and ports on the two most important oceans on Earth.

The US land mass covers many latitudes and longitudes making it possible to grow a large variety of crops and maintain herds of a variety of animals.

We also have a multitude of ecosystems including mountains, deserts, prairies, swamps (not just in DC), high plains, etc. This results in many types of geological formations that produce oil, gas, precious metals, rare earths, uranium, thorium, etc.

We could go full on xenophobic, isolationist, and/or mercantilist and still provide all citizens with all of their food, clothing, housing, and technological needs.

Up until quite recently we had a mostly Western European population which by some magical and mysterious way (which we can’t talk about) have the ability and desire to invent new technologies, discover new scientific theories, develop and produce innovative products, and convince people around the world to demand them for themselves.

Not only that, but those coastlines have many natural harbors which led to great cities. South America has nowhere near the same number of natural harbors as North America. And the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf can access the interior via the St. Lawrence and Great Lake as well as the Mississippi. We were truly blessed with all those waterways and harbors.

Unlike our more "sophisticated" and "grown up" relatives in Europe we maintained our "naive" belief in that "old time religion" a lot longer.

This tempered the sharper edges of the so-called "Enlightenment" and kept us free from wokeness long enough to invent and develop entire industries, span an entire continent, and put a man on the effing Moon!

We are an extension of Judeo-Christian western civilization and culture, which is still there for us to re-embrace.

I'm repeating myself, and this is heavy in economics, but I think it's relevant.

America is an economic fortress. Fortresses come under assault and take hits. But America and her fortress economy stand alone.

America makes up 4% of the world's population...

...and yet we crank out 24% of the planet's GDP.

And while we are at the top of the Countries that Consume the Most Oil (2020 barrels per day)

United States — 17,178,000
China — 14,225,000
India — 4,669,000
Saudi Arabia — 3,544,000
Japan — 3,268,000
Russia — 3,238,000
South Korea — 2,560,000
Brazil — 2,323,000
Canada — 2,282,000
— Germany 2,045,000

...we also top the list of Countries with the Highest Oil Production (barrels per day)

United States - 11,567,000
Russia - 10,503,000
Saudi Arabia - 10,225,000
Canada - 4,656,000
Iraq - 4,260,000
China - 3,969,000
United Arab Emirates - 2,954,000
Brazil - 2,852,000
Kuwait - 2,610,000
Iran - 2,546,000

Thus, we Americans, making up only 4% of the planet's headcount, produce about a quarter of GDP - punching way above our weight. In relative contrast, China is a joke.

And if THAT wasn't cool enough, America's 4% of the population is at the top of the equity market food chain:

And, of course, we win the gun race by a mile...

....but we're not losing the murder race.

As for the national debt, we have trillions in untapped oil and gas and mineral resources. IER estimated the worth of the government’s oil and gas technically recoverable resources to the economy to be about 8 times our national debt.

There are lots of problems in the US, but did you notice that even the economic doom newsletter sellers always take payment in fiat currency?

More than an extension.

America started with 13 Colonies like Christ and His 12 disciples..

America grew to 50 states, like Christ grew His assembly, at 50..

This nation is a picture, at a nation’s level, of the New Covenant Church..

That’s the good news.

The bad news is that the Church and America were always going to be serpent led, beastly.

Thank you. I believe that America was created by God. It is the only nation in human history, including Israel, that was founded predominantly on a Christian (mostly Protestant) religious tradition (that emphasizes bottom up church governance); common law (bottom up, vs. divine right/civil law/sharia law which is all top down); private property with written titles and deeds (still missing in Africa); and a free market economy.

What God started, no man can stop. And for those who say America is too sinful, God was willing to spare Sodom if 10 righeous could be found. There’s a few more than 10 in America.

Merry Christmas.
