Gillum and a colleague were indicted earlier this year on federal charges including conspiracy, wire fraud and making false statements to FBI agents. Prosecutors said Gillum funneled donations through third parties back to himself for personal use....According to prosecutors, Gillum met with undercover FBI agents posing as developers while he was mayor of Tallahassee and during his campaign for governor.

DeSantis beat Gillum 49.6 to 49.2 - just 32,000 votes out of 8.1 million.

Gillum asserts "that he was the victim of selective prosecution because he was a Black candidate for governor."

Being caught in a hotel room naked with a male prostitute while feces, vomit and drugs were all over the place didn’t help his case as a loyal husband and father.

DeSantis won the 2018 Florida gubernatorial election by a squeaker because of vote fraud. The dems did manage to get Nikki Fried into office as commissioner of agriculture by the same mechanism, and one of the first things DeSantis did once in office was shut down the vote fraud centers located, as always, in the democrat-run urban centers. Which is why the only 'Red Wave' the U.S. saw in 2022 was in in the Sunshine State.

Of course, Gillum, being black, will be whining about 'racism', even though the real reason is that he's scum.

Talk about dodging a bullet!

Gillum needs to be locked away for a few decades.

DeSantis ran a relatively weak campaign in 2018 due to inexperience in Florida statewide campaigns and lack of a network of political contacts and organization throughout the state. Florida's “Red Wave” in 2022 was due to the continuing decline of the state Democratic Party's headquarters operation and a major influx of new Republican voters. Better laws against vote fraud also helped, but not enough to account for the Florida GOP's great results in 2022.

That's all quite debatable. The world being as complex as it is, there are very few things that can be reduced to a few factors. Florida's restoration of it's voting system started back when Charlie Crist was governor, incredibly enough, and Jeb Bush also did some good work there, to give credit where credit is due. Add to that the fact that growth of the GOP in the sunshine state over the last few years, along with the fact that Ron DeSantis has stood head and shoulders above the vast majority of Republican leaders nationwide in 2022, and... voila.

Desantis huge victory was due to
his firing of the Broward county Black Commie Voter supervisor and her all Black Staff plus the Palm Beach Voter supervisor being forced to resign and Miami Dade forced to Clean up its voter rolls .
The new Dem voter cheat central will be Orange and Osceola.
A black Dem candidate just blew the whistle on the Black voter harvesting operations there .

They took a dive in Florida in 2022 to spend the vote fraud money elsewhere, and to boost DeSantis nationally.

They weren't going to beat him in an off-year, anyway.

I'll note also The JoeTatoe numbers in Miami-Dade alone in 2020 - AFTER the vote fraud issue had supposedly been corrected:

Nearly a million Democrat "voters" disappeared from Florida between 2018 and 2022.

The "By Any Means Necessary" Party, the Party that Never Quits - just up and quit in Florida in 2022.

Obama 2008 McCain 2008	total 2008 Gillum DeSantis	total 2018 Biden 2020 Trump 2020 total 2020	Crist DeSantis total 2022
Miami-Dade 58% 499,831 42% 360,551 864,636 478,958 311,581 794,223 53% 617,864 46% 532,833 1,158,918	44% 312,946 55% 393,522 711,815

Also note that 300,000 Democrat "voters" disappeared in Miami-Dade County in a mere two years...

Desantis huge victory was due to his firing of the Broward county Black Commie Voter supervisor and her all Black Staff plus the Palm Beach Voter supervisor being forced to resign and Miami Dade forced to Clean up its voter rolls

Nov 19, 2018 — Brenda Snipes, the controversial Broward supervisor of elections, has submitted her resignation, which will be effective in January.

Jan 18, 2019 — Susan Bucher, the long-time supervisor of elections in Palm Beach County, was suspended Friday by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Note that the JoeTatoe blew the doors off in Miami-Dade in 2020 - AFTER these two cockroaches were replaced.

Yes, Orange and Osceola are dirty as the day is long.

Not sure that hurts him much with Democrat voters. Being a rabid pervert may have actually helped him.

Aren’t Orange and Osceola counties already overwhelmingly democrat and mostly made up of minorities anyway? Why would the cheating be concentrated there?

With the FBI in charge, somebody might want to check that the evidence hasn’t been “accidentally” deleted or lost.

I mean, Gillum is a Democrat . . .

We’ve already seen the pictures, it wasn’t pretty, naked black man passed out on the floor surrounded by poop, vomit, drugs and another naked man.

When you control the local political machinery, creating ballots is a snap.

Those counties are a hotspot, but there are other hotspots still.

Fair enough. I have been in enough discussions with high level GOP pollsters and party professionals to know that, even among experts who work in the field for a living, opinions differ as to why the GOP has been so successful in Florida. I am sure that the same would hold as to why DeSantis won reelection handily.

One major factor that is rarely mentioned is that the so-called motor voter law boosted GOP registration in Florida in that it spurred the Republican leaning retirees and families who moved to the state to register almost immediately upon arrival. The solidly GOP retirement community of The Villages alone now has over 140,000 residents.

In addition, the Florida's GOP's organizational development from the mid-1990s on has been a major plus for Republicans. A lot of elections to state and local office come down to three things where party organization makes a great difference: candidate recruitment; candidate support in the form of training, advice, funds, and people; and get out the vote.

I was part of the team in the Tallahassee GOP HQs for most of that period. Chairman Tom Slade, a former state senator, was a determined and skilled leader in the mid-90s who made sure that the state GOP HQs was well-funded and staffed by highly capable political operatives.

Repeatedly, in the closing weeks of election seasons, the GOP HQs in Tallahassee would be open with people at work nearly 24/7, but the Democrat HQs would keep bankers' hours. Their primary staffers and key field operatives ranged from unimpressive to incapable. As Republican strength grew, the Democratic party's organizational and HQs budgets declined.

And, after the last election, the GOP holds all the statewide political offices in Florida and has supermajorities in both houses of the state legislature. The Democrats are strong in the major urban areas though and have the benefit of support from the teachers unions, trial lawyers, and news media. The Democrats remain strong enough to be in contention when the GOP slips up.

There is more than a little truth to that. The Democratic Party organizations in Orange and Osceola (and Hillsborough) are increasingly dominant and dangerous.
