In the 70’s they were warning us about a new Ice Age by now.

“The California Reservoir system hold enough water for 5 years assuming NO RAIN.”

That’s a lie told by criminals to deceive stupid people.

It would be 5 years worth if farming got 100% of the watershed.

They do not, and will never.

In CA the water is allocated at:
50% to keep the rivers and delta alive.
40% to farming
10% to municipalities.

When water is short, farming and the rivers are cut equally.

I have lived in California for 68 years. They always say we are in a drought and never do a thing about it. They concentrate on more important things like bullet trains and global warming.

reservoirs are currently less than half full.

the hope is that if the rain keeps up the reservoirs in california will fill up completely.

but it will takes a lot more rain/snow to do that.

lake powell and lake mead will need a couple of years of heavy rains to refill. less hope there.

You forgot about all the sea lions waiting at the fish locks devouring the salmon.

Despite the sea lions they get still get enough upstream.

The Fish Hatcheries in the Northwest are pretty educational once you get past the climate tripe.

Commercial fishing out of Asia is really out of hand for many species and I am not even sure sanctions would stop it.

Yep, they will dump it into the ocean to “save” a small fish that has zero effect on the ecosystem as a whole.

We will get to see how well the repairs to spillway at Oroville hold.

Snow water equivalent in the Rockies generally range from 117% to 176% of normal.

Actually normal needs to average out at 100%.

Otherwise, you need to adjust the normal.

They will leave the gates open in the reservoirs.

Sierra Club and others shut down dam building.

First drought I remember was late 70’s.

This forever drought seems a newer thing.

They no longer accept rain as ending a drought, no matter how much.

They like to use the excuse rain you receive doesn’t matter, it’s the snow pack.

Now what will they say.

"Empty reservoirs = climate change
Full reservoirs = climate change"

Same with the Great Lakes.

Low water levels = climate change
High water levels = climate change

They will leave the gates open in the reservoirs.

That is what I heard. There is still a long way to go until many of the dams reach flood control levels. Oroville flood control is at 850 feet. The current level is closing in on 750 feet. Once the rainy season and snow melt season starts to taper the off dam operator will try to top it off at 900 feet assuming they get the precipitation...

Newsom and his cronies will find ways to squander this in order to perpetuate the public’s hardships.

Storms drought busting effects unclear!

The comments below are under a frontpage photo showing man wading in thigh deep water.

California has experienced a devastating, multi-year drought that’s depleted reservoirs, forced officials to plead with residents to conserve water and constrained supplies to vital farmland.

Suddenly, the state has been hit by a severe series of storms, with more expected in the coming days. The rain is soaking a state that desperately needs water, even as it takes a devastating human toll. Experts say it will help drought conditions, but it isn’t yet clear exactly how much. And the rain and snow won’t be enough to fix some of California’s long-term water problems that climate change is making worse.
