Bird flu has wiped out millions of laying hens. It’s 90-100% fatal and highly contagious. Eggs are approaching $5 a dozen in my part of Texas.
Who the heck shops at whole foods? It’s is arguably the most expensive grocery store in my town......far surpassing our Publix chain, which is a little high itself but nothing like WF.
The few times I’ve walked into whole foods I walked out empty-handed and went straight to Publix.
BTW eggs are about $5.50 a dozen where I am.
Also, we have begun to supplement eggs with
liquid egg whites.
Bird Flu has forced egg producers to kill entire flocks. The price of chicken meat has also gone up, but broiler hens can be raised from chicks to broiler in 7 to 9 weeks, where egg-laying hens need 18-22 weeks before they begin laying.
So broiler flocks can be replaced much more quickly than egg laying flocks can.
A special added bonus that increased the cost of eggs prior to all this bird flu decimation was California requiring only eggs from free range chickens to be sold, which increased the cost of raising and keeping laying chickens for producers.
Well, in that eggs are about as sensible an investment vehicle as bitcoin is, I guess they have a point.
The 2 lb Quacker Oats by me as of last night was
$9.59
Be very careful what you eat now. Know the source. Know it hasn’t been Gene edited. The globalist have some very scary ideas about putting things in your food and genetic alterations.
We only get about 3 eggs a day right now, but as soon as it warms up we will be back to 12 a day...

When you destroy the fossil fuel system, the price of seeds, fertilizer, feed and gas for tractors double and triple. Why, because it involves oil. The cost of oil, supply chain, gas prices are all through the roof on Biden’s watch. Are you better off than you were 3 years ago?
I believe egg prices are extremely local. Was just at the grocery store yesterday and a dozen are $4.99.
This is what you get with free-range chickens….picking up viruses from wild birds who feed along with the chickens.
Not only that, but Whole Foods? What did they expect?
Twitter users confused about eggs as a ‘luxury item’ it’s one of Biden’s weapons obey or else.
About $5 a dozen here in Minnesota. However, I’m finding free range brown eggs are a buck cheaper. I’ll use those without a problem. However the price of bacon is declining…paid $3/pound last week from nearly $5 before Christmas. Of course soon we may have to cook our bacon and eggs on a wind and solar powered range that only works when the sun is shining and the wind is just right provided we aren’t charging our government approved electric minicar at the same time.
Stop eating them and the price will go down.
They aren’t necessary for a good diet, much as I like them.
I paid $4.00 a dozen last week at Aldi. A little over a year ago, I paid 89 cents for a dozen eggs at Aldi.
I’m going to have to start eating beans on toast for breakfast, like the English do. Looks like the price of an egg McMuffin will have to soar.
