I was hoping to see some discussion about whether it is the real deal or someone’s dream. As an old artilleryman from the Korea days, we didn’t have such fancy equipment and depended or either air spotters or forward observers to locate enemy artillery.
I was artillery for a time also but I don’t have any great interest in it anymore.
I will catch some of this in a general way, the Russians have some new gain on artillery, and then the Ukrainians will have reactions to it and defenses and counters, and visa versa, but my only current interest is in the general direction of the war, not in the minutia of technology.
I think I saw another article that said this was a problem for the ukes, but like the drones, or a new missile, or new tactic, it is a back and forth with this stuff.
I am more curious about the effect all this new armor going to the ukes will have on their lighting strikes and attacks.
For counterbattery fire, you probably remember the old method of using the gash from incoming to try and guess where it came from.
It is normally done by radar, but the downside is that draws fire on itself by emissions. The advantage of the new system is that it doesn’t.
