A proposed draft of a physical education form in Florida could require all high school student athletes to disclose information regarding their menstrual history — a move that’s already drawing pushback from opponents who say the measure would harm students. The draft — published last month by the Florida High School Athletic Association, a group that oversees interscholastic athletic programs across the state — proposes making currently optional questions regarding a student’s menstrual cycle mandatory, as reported by the Palm Beach Post. The form, if approved, would ask students if they’ve had a menstrual cycle, and if so, at what age they had their first menstrual period, their most recent menstrual period and “how many periods [the student has] had in the past 12 months.”

This seems like an invasion of privacy. Are they going to ask dudes how many they cranked out?
Can we just do normal subjects?…

From the article:

“This is clearly an effort to further stigmatize and demonize transgender people in sports [and] meant to further exclude people who aren’t assigned female at birth in girls sports,” said Maxx Fenning, president of PRISM, a South Florida nonprofit organization that provides sexual health information to LGBTQ+ youth.

My menstrual history has never been good. The fact that I was born with two testicles might have something to do with it. But in today’s world, I’m not sure that matters.

Some girls don’t menstruate until later in life because of the intense physical training. Not unheard of for female gymnastics to not have a cycle until after high school.

Perhaps it is an attempt to evaluate secondary amenorrhea, overtraining, undereating.

Certainly a doctor examining a hard-training female athlete should ask those questions; sharing with the school seems a breach of privacy.

Why? Don’t say it’s about abortion, the girls can always lie. So why are they asking the girls this?

They are trying to deter real women from going out for sports. Only trans will find this acceptable.

Questions only one’s nurse or doctor should ask and are qualified to address. The state thinks it controls our biology. No.

I am a girl’s high school coach. There is zero reason for me or the athletic director to have this information. Maybe the trainer or a doctor, but keep that information far away from me.

Maybe they are just looking for real women and trying to weed out the men pretending to be women.

It’s about female athletic triad!

“ The female athlete triad is defined as the combination of disordered eating, amenorrhea and osteoporosis. This disorder often goes unrecognized. The consequences of lost bone mineral density can be devastating for the female athlete. Premature osteoporotic fractures can occur, and lost bone mineral density may never be regained. Early recognition of the female athlete triad can be accomplished by the family physician through risk factor assessment and screening questions. Instituting an appropriate diet and moderating the frequency of exercise may result in the natural return of menses.…
