There is a lot more to the story - there is still suspicion the mother wrote the ransom letter.

I remember hearing the grounds around the house were snow covered. No foot tracks were found leading to any windows.

Have you seen Burke ( creepy son/bro) as an adult? Something is definitely off with that kid.
I believe i read that the Ramseys would not allow a DNA sample from Burke back in the day

I lived in Denver when this murder happened. I’ve never thought her family was involved. I believed from Day One that the Boulder PD botched the case, contaminated the crime scene and the DA spent too much effort trying to build a case against family members while the real killer disappeared under the radar.

>>They are probably doing ancestor genetic tracing.<<
It's what the father has been pleading for and Boulder has been resisting for months because they were standing behind their "crack" investigators who were assigning guilt to the parents. They even sat on initial DNA testing for months which cleared all family members. .Here's the best news:
A former lead detective on the JonBenét Ramsey murder case - and head of the Investigations Unit - has been reassigned to patrol by the Boulder Police Department after an internal audit revealed some cases had not been investigated between 2019 and this year.
Commander Thomas Trujillo “is no longer involved in any investigations, including the Jon Benet Ramsey case,” BPD spokesperson Sarah Huntley told The Independent.

C C Moore and Parabon do this. They are very good. They solved the case of my niece, murdered and raped over 20 years ago. The defendant has been charged, is in jail, and is on his way to a very short trial toward a conviction.

I know a person who submitted DNA to 23andMe - her relative who was in the military overseas, suddenly discovered 3 children he fathered while overseas.
Not cool.

They found the suitcase under the window and scuff marks on the wall above the suitcase. They also found the Hi-Tech boot print in the basement. The local police missed the marks from the stun gun as well. If that was my family I would be furious at that police department.

I was in the US Navy from 1988-1992, medically discharged and visit the VA for a service connected disability.
The criminal government has had my DNA since 1987, when I joined the D.E.P.
Due to that, I saw no reason not to do an Ancestry.com DNA swap.

This case is used as an example of how not to do it when murder cops get around to discussing such things. Lots of stones throw at the Boulder cops. Mostly “it isn’t always the father or other family member.” DNA was still a “new” tool to LEO’s then.

I’ve seen C.C. moore on TV. Glad your case was solved. Genetic genealogy certainly is fascinating.

That is a curious element. Since the DNA doesn’t match any of the family members, why would Mrs. Ramsay bother writing it to throw the investigation off? Did she think someone in the family did it and was trying to cover up for them? Was the strangulation and the trauma to the head from the same person? The mystery continues.
